Air injection can be used for EOR in light oil reservoir through a low temperature oxidation (LTO) process. It is applicable to water flooded oil reservoir for tertiary oil recovery and to low permeable reservoir for secondary oil recovery which is not suitable for water-flood. Air injection can be applied for maintaining reservoir pressure with water flooding, and for gravity drainage. In this paper, by air injection experimental study, it was analyzed that low temperature oxidation reaction kinetics and the mechanism of enhanced oil recovery. It was studied that the extent of low temperature oxidation reaction at different temperatures and pressures and the feasibility of air injection displacement in HU12 reservoir, and then offered theoretical support for air injection. The results of experiments showed that the time of gas breakthrough and the oxygen contents in produced gas were reduced, the displacement efficiency at the time of gas breakthrough and the oxygen consuming quantity were increased with increase of temperature at the same dimensionless pressure. The results also showed that the displacement efficiency at the time of gas breakthrough, the time of gas breakthrough and the oxygen consuming quantity were increased, the oxygen contents in produced gas was reduced with reduce of dimensionless pressure at the same temperature. The laboratory findings show that the air injection displacement in HU12 resevoir is safe and feasible at some injection pressures and temperatures. By studying the application of air injection technique on home and abroad, the problems coming in the field and the means which resolved were analyzed, the critical technology was concluded, thereby, offered gist for field conduct of air injection.
