This essay presents the definition of hydrates, the purpose and significance in research on hydrates. Italso presents the progress, main problems and trends in research on hydrates. Meanwhile, it alsosummarizes the status of hydrate forming conditions in multiphase miscible transferring and research onpreventive measures in foreign countries as well as experimental research in multiphase miscibletransferring by pipelines in China. We have developed the static visible hydrate formation units, which could solve the difficulty inmeasuring hydrate formation point. A kinetics hydrate inhibitor, polyglycerin has been synthesized, whichrelatively effects hydrate crystalloid enlarging or agglomerating and can last over six hours of hydrateplugging when added at a concentration of two percent. Compared with carbinol, this kind of inhibitor hasthe advantages of little dosage and non-toxicity. The tests for simulating hydrate formation and itsconditions have been performed successfully by many experiments with both static or dynamic units. Withthe features of easy to watch and operate, the kind of unit can relatively factually simulate hydrate-formingenvironment and provide scientific methods and means for researching hydrate formation law andappraising hydrate inhibitor, especially the dynamic unit, which was first used in China and can reach theadvanced international level.
