Wetland has various ecosystems function and economy, society value. It is a nature resource treasury and capital which humankind relies on. In recent years, wetland science has become a worldwide focus of subject and study field. In this paper, the wetland resource in Ruoergai was extracted by using multi-source remote sensing data of 1977, 1994, 2001, and other non-remote sensing data, such as the terrain map. With the landscape ecology principle, the evolution of wetland's landscape pattern was analyzed. The main content is as follows:1. It was primarily discussed that geology, climate and other factors control the formation and evolution of wetland in Ruoergai.2. The optimal modes about synthesizing RGB bands of the ETM, TM and MSS image data were found, by which the optimal bands syntheses about the wetland information was chosen from the three periods image data. The best band syntheses for ETM, TM and MSS image is respectively RGB753, RGB547, RGB231.3. Multi-temporal remote sensing monitoring on wetland resource. Integrating with authoritative wetland classification systems and the characteristics of wetland reflected from images, wetland classification system and tools of interpretation in research area was established. Wetland resource information in the year of 2001, 1994 and 1977 was extracted by using the method of visual interpretation. It shows that wetland is decreasing.4. The analysis on wetland landscape pattern. Based on landscape ecology principle, the landscape pattern on wetland in studying area was analyzed by using landscape pattern indices. From the analysis results, we can see that the number of the whole wetland landscape fragmentation index is increasing, which illuminated that some landscape types degenerated or vanished, or the primary landscape types have been partitioning. Landscape dominance index is higher and evenness index is lower than 0.5, which showed that there are advantage landscape types in this area. The peat moor get the ascendancy over the wetland types. On the contrary, the proportion of other wetland types is little.5. Based on the existing data, the author analyzed that such changes in landscapepattern is because of some nature changes and human movements, such as geotectonic movement, climate, trenching, overgrazing and mining peat. But dynamic monitoring results that human movements is the main factor of landscape pattern changing in the research area during the recent 30 years.
