In recent years, the application of methyl tert-butyl ether has already caused the people's widespread concern because it pollutes the ground water and may include the carcinogen. Diisopropyl ether has higher octane number, higher amount of oxygen and lower Reid pressure, so it is likely to become an ideal substitute of the methyl tert-butyl ether. Dimethoxymethane possesses higher quantity of oxygen, higher ratio of hydrogen to carbon and lower flash point. It can improve cetane number when mixed with the diesel oil. At present the researches on phase equilibrium of the two substances is a popular research field.Measurements of phase equilibrium data and foundation of thermodynamic model are the theoretical basis that makes it possible for the process of separation and the research and development of the additive. For investigating the mutual solubility of aqueous solution with diisopropyl ether and dimethoxymethane as well as other additive components in the main components of the gasoline and the diesel oil respectively, the liquid-liquid equilibria data of ternary mixtures (water + 2-propanol + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane), (water + toluene + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane), (water + dimethoxymethane + diisopropyl ether), (water + dimethoxymethane + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane) and quaternary mixtures (water + ethanol + diisopropyl ether + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane), (water + 2-propanol + diisopropyl ether + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane), (water + methyl tert-butyl ether + diisopropyl ether + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane), (water + toluene + diisopropyl ether + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane) were measured at a temperature of 298.15 K and ambient pressure in this work. We conclude from our experimental results that diisopropyl ether and dimethoxymethane have excellent solubility in the gasoline and the diesel oil with other additive components. Further more, the mutual solubility of diisopropyl ether with water is less than that of methyl tert-butyl ether obviously.According to the properties of multicomponent mixture phase equilibrium measured in this work, the author adopts the Modified UNIQUAC and the Extended...
