The Fenning Bashang is one of important areas that Surrounding Beijing and Tianjin, where are carrying out wind erosion with desertification control project. Therefore, to improve vegetation restoration would play a important role on ecological environment and protect the ecological safety of this area. In order to provide the theory foundation and scientific, several research work have been done, including soil seeds bank, standing plant and species diversity and the precipitation character of small watershed. Some important results are showed as follows:(1) By the study of characteristics of vegetation and soil seed bank change in old-field and over-grazed field of Gushi pasture, it showed that: Species diversity of both vegetation and soil seed bank in old-field is higher than that in over-grazed one. The succession in old-field would be placed in the stage from annual herbsaceous plants to perennial herbaceous plants in terms of analysis of vegetation and soil seed bank composition. It seems to proof that the old-field can still maintenance species diversity even had farm practice in past time.(2) In old-field ,the species riches and plant density in ground vegetation were 25 and 2970/m~2 as well as 20 and 30217/m~2 in soil seed bank. In over-grazed one, on the other hand, they were 16 and 1806/m~2 in ground vegetation 17 and 6115/m~2 respectively. The number of co-occuring species both in soil seed bank and the ground vegetation in old-field(8 species) is higher significantly than that in over-grazed one(3 species). So lead to decrease in co-occuring species between the seed bank and the vegetation in over-grazed.(3) The results showed that the species diversity increased both in the soil and on the ground with the shallow ploughing, which stimulated the seeds germination and growth better. But the amount of the biomass decreased because the proportions of the rophyte, biannial were increased by artificial cultivated disturbance. There was a furtherer influence of the different restoration forms on the vertical distribution of seeds, of which there wae 78.5% seeds of total amount in the soil layer of 0~10cm by natural restoration, while there were 75.4% and 54.1% by lower and deeper ploughing, respectively.
