Antennae of insects play a crucial role in the course o fits existence, and they are the major organs to accept signals of external environment. We can explore macro-behavioral secret by the physiological and biochemical microcosmic characteristics of insect antennae. There are more than 140 species of Fannia in China, but studies on the antennal sensilla have not been reported. Therefore, the studies on antennal sensilla of Fannia are very important. The number, type, distribution of antennal sensilla were researched in adults of 14 Fannia species in China using scanning electron microscope(SEM).The aim was to supply evidence to the Taxonomy, Evolution of Fannia. This study was consisted of three parts:(1) The type, number and distribution of antennal sensilla among Fannia (2) The type, number and distribution of antennal sensilla among 14 representative species of Fannia in China (3) the relationship between the morphological characteristics and antennal sensilla. The results showed that:(1) Six types and sixteen species of antennal sensilla were found in 14 species of Fannia:Sensilla trichodea (divided into 9 species), Sensilla setiform, Sensilla chaetica, Sensilla basiconica (divided into 3 species), Sensillum cylindric, and Bohm's bristles. The Sensilla trichodeaâ…§and Sensilla trichodeaâ…¨with tumor-like structures were identified at the first time.(2) It is remarkable that the type, number and distribution of each species antennal sensilla are different. The Sensilla trichodeaâ… and Sensilla trichodeaâ…¨only exist in Fannia scalaris, the Sensilla trichodeaâ…¦only exist in Fannia cothurnata, the Sensilla trichodeaâ…§only exists in Fannia.subpellucens and Fannia scalaris, the Sensilla basiconicaâ…¢only exist in Fannia cothurnata and Fannia curvostylata, the Bohm's bristles only exist in Fannia canicularis and Fannia davidia- nicornis, the Sensilla trichodeaâ…¢only exist in 5 species Fannia, the Sens- illa trichodeaâ…¤only exist in 5 species Fannia, the Sensilla trichodeaâ…¥only exist in 4 species Fannia, and the Sensilla basiconicaâ…¡only exist in 6 species Fannia. The Sensilla setiform and Sensilla trichodeaâ…¡andâ…£exist in all species in Fannia, but the type, number, length, base width were different.(3) There is an obvious correlation between the morphological characteristics and antennal sensilla.
