The Ancient And Modern Literature Study On Sandwiched Moxibustion

Objective:To systematize the records on sandwiched moxibustion in ancient and modern literature and summarize the origins,types,and application regularities of sandwiched moxibustion in different historical periods in order to provide reference for modern clinical application and scientific research of sandwiched moxibustion.Methods:By combining traditional philological methods and statistical methods,the author first searched for related literature in Chinese Medical Classics,China Modern Medicine Journal compilation,China Knowledge Network Database(CNKI),Chongqing Weipu Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP),WanFang Database(WanFang)and China Biomedical Literature Service System(SinoMed).The literature was then screened according to the corresponding inclusion and exclusion criteria,and was exported to a database which was built with an Excel table.Microsoft Excel worksheets and their function formulas were used to perform data analysis on sandwiched moxibustion.Lastly,the Apriori algorithm in SPSS Modeler 15.0 was used to analyze the correlation between different sandwiched moxibustion methods and related factors,and summarizes the changes to the application regularities of sandwiched moxibustion by comparative analysis of ancient and modern literature.Results:In ancient times,there were 56 kinds of sandwiched moxibustion and 9 kinds of optimal moxibustion methods.177 kinds of diseases and symptoms were treated,22 kinds of dominant diseases and symptoms were treated and most of them were surgical diseases.1 16 kinds of Chinese medicines were used,but only 15 kinds were used in high-frequency.Chinese medicines were applied in affected areas and the high-frequency acupoint was the Shenque(RN8).The first three positions of the association analysis between ancient sandwiched moxibustion and the main symptoms are:loess-separated moxibustion→carbuncle-abscess,ginger-separated moxibustion→carbuncle-abscess,Douchi cake-separated moxibustion→carbuncle-abscess;association analysis between ancient sandwiched moxibustion and the partition are:garlic-separated moxibustion→ garlic,Douchi cake-separated moxibustion→salt,salt-separated moxibustion→salt;association analysis between ancient sandwiched moxibustion and the treatment site are:Douchi cake-separated cake moxibustion→affected area,Fuzi-separated moxibustion→affected area,garlic-separated moxibustion→affected area.In modern times,there are 30 kinds of modern sandwiched moxibustion,8 kinds of optimized moxibustion methods;383 kinds of treated diseases and symptoms,24 kinds of dominant diseases and symptoms,most of which are internal diseases.There are 302 Chinese medicines used and 62 are used in high-frequency.There are 53 high-frequency acupoints.The top three results from association analysis between modern sandwiched moxibustion and the main symptoms are:drug-separated cake moxibustion→ankylosing spondylitis,paving moxibustion→ankylosing spondylitis,ginger-separated moxibustion→ankylosing spondylitis;The top three results from association analysis between modern sandwiched moxibustion and the partition are:paving moxibustion→ginger,ginger-separated moxibustion→ginger,medicine powder-separated moxibustion→cinnamon;the results from association analysis between modern sandwiched moxibustion and the treatment site are:salt-separated moxibustion→Shenque(RN8),medicine powder-separated moxibustion→Shenque(RN8),medicine cake-separated moxibustion→Shenque(RN8).Conclusion:The types of modern sandwiched moxibustion and optimal moxibustion are less than ancient times.Garlic-separated moxibustion was the most widely used in ancient times,while ginger-separated moxibustion is more prevalent in modern times.The ancient sandwiched moxibustion methods mainly treat surgery,while the modern one is mainly medical.In modern times,Chinese medicines are being widely used in sandwiched moxibustion and acupoints are often taken in the treatment,which is different from treatment of affected areas in ancient times.
