Abstract/Summary:
Controlling a hypersonic vehicle is quite challenging, due to its uncertainty and the complexity of its systems. Due to such challenges, especially plant uncertainty, robust control is a suitable technique to use.; The purpose of this research is to model a hypersonic vehicle and to explain the use of Hinfinity control for the hypersonic vehicle. This research summarize the basic concepts of robust control, and explain the advantages of employing such a control technique. Furthermore, the key issues of stability and robustness for Hinfinity controllers will be addressed. To see the advantages of the Hinfinity control technique, this research compare robust control with other control techniques such as classical PID control and optimal LQR control. Also multi-frequency Control Concept is described.; Finally, it is the intent of this research to explore the application of robust control to flight controls on hypersonic vehicles. With this goal in mind, a nonlinear dynamic model is presented in the area of hypersonic aerodynamics. Explanations of the hypersonic vehicle modeling techniques used are also presented. Using the hypersonic vehicle simulation model, the flight control systems are designed and simulated to evaluate the performance and robustness of the controllers.
