In the context of open innovation, this study explores the co-evolution mechanism between the founder's social capital, innovation team and innovation performance. In the specific study,we selected innovation projects in a large open source community as a research object, and strive to systematically explore how the aquisizition and utilization mechanism of project resources as well as how the initial resources are formed in the self-selected volunteer and self-organizing context.Based on social network and social capital theory, this research empirically investigates the the acquisition of innovative resources, the utilization of innovative resources and the formation of initial resources from the perspective of both individual level and innovation team level.Study 1 inversitage how the individual characteristics affect the organization's network structure?and How does the founder's position in the personal social network affect the organization's resources and its position in the inter-organizational level network?Study 2 inversitage the impact of bi-directional nature of the knowledge flow in the collaborative innovation network, which makes the innovation team network structure have double-sided effect on the new product development performance. This study also explores how the characteristics of the team itself(i.e.absorptive capacity)influence innovation performance. Finally, the author adopts the motive-opportunity-ability(MOA)framework to diccusse how can innovation team deal with the double-edged effect of social capital.Study 3 focuses on how the structure and performance of the project created by the founders affect his subsequent structural positons?Does the past performance affect the possibility of forming a relationship with new members and thus determine the initial resources? The study can be divided into 6 chapters.Chapter 1 mainly introduces the research background, research questions, research framework and research methods of this research.Chapter 2 mainly analyzes and reviews the research background, structure and variables of this study, and finds out the theoretical gaps, including open innovation, knowledge flow in collaborative innovation network, network theory and social capital theory.Chapter 3,4 and 5 are the empirical parts of this paper, including the research model and data analysis. The research models focus on the development of the theoretical model, and the relevant theory hypothesis deduction. Then the hyphothese are empirically tested and the results of the three studies are discussed and summarized.Chapther 6 mainly discusses the research results, summarizes and discusses the research questions, and expounds the theoretical contributions and practical implications of this study. The limitations of this study and possible future research directions are aslo dicussed in this chapter.
