There were few studiesconsidered to explore the dynamic system intra-or inter-individual, also with unilateralattention of the nature to negative affect in the past. This thesis explored causal paths ofsuicide desire and suicide behavior in typical young people based of the interpersonaltheory. Further, the thesis considered the possible effect of positive emotion on suicide.Participants of the thesis selected college students (freshmen and sophomores) andyoung psychiatric inpatients. First of all, to verify the applicability of the interpersonaltheory determined a feasible measurement model by confirmatory factor analysis thenbuilt a regression framework to test what kind of individuals at highest risk of suicide.Further, suicidal risk information provided by the affective elements was exploredcombining with the circumplex model. Canonical correlation analysis tested therelationship between affective elements with interpersonal needs then the differences of affective patterns between individuals with different levels of risk were compared. Finally, quantitative analysis of theoretical construct of classic Revised Chapmen PhysicalAnhedonia Scale and Revised Chapmen Social Anhedonia Scale estimated by bi-factormodel for a better understanding of the psychological nature of anhedonia. And thenregression framework was constructed with combining anticipatory pleasure andconsummatory pleasure, different elements of pleasure may be specific role in the causesof suicide. Application of Fisher’s Z transformation compared correlation coefficient ofpleasure ability with interpersonal needs of two groups of patients.Main conclusions:1. Both interpersonal variables existed at the same time would lead to a serious formof suicide desire which might be a unique etiological basic of suicide ideation acrosscultural background was the same.2. Individuals who were exposed to pain and provocative events would acquirecapability of suicide. The acquired capability was independent construct from suicideideation and had significant gender differences.3. The closest cause to aspire to death by suicide might be a perception that cannotcontribute to other happiness. The interaction of this interpersonal variable with acquiredcapability would predict clinical rating risk of suicide significantly and more contributionthan other risk factors. So suicidal behavior would only occur in a condition thatindividuals wanted and were able to implement.4. Both of positive affect and negative affect were important for the forecast ofsuicide risk, especially the positive affect weighted higher weakening with theenhancement of suicide risk rating. In affect space of the circumplex model, thoughts andbehaviors of suicide showed different affect combinations—self-injury group is the mostunstable reflected conflicted characteristics—both low positive and negative affects inattempted group showed indifferent to life.5. Bi-factor model analysis found that physical anhedonia and social anhedonia hadmultidimensional characteristics. The general factor extracted from mentioned anhedoniafactors reflected clinical manifestations more exact. Compare to physical anhedonia, social anhedonia had more contribution to general factor (i.e. psychological construct of traitanhedonia derived from social interpersonal). Unlike depression, anhedonia might berelatively independent pathological manifestation. The general factor could distinguishseverity and characteristics in different disorders very well.6. Anhedonia might play a role of suicide desire and suicide capability both and rateof contribution of various pleasure deficits was different. Greater physical anhedoniacould predict more pain and provocative experiences, and with which consummatorypleasure predicted elevated impulsiveness. Under the background of disorders, physicaland social anhedonia significant contributed to schizophrenia inpatients’ and depressioninpatients’ suicide desire, moreover, anticipatory pleasure was related to depressionespecially.Interpersonal needs are stable predictor of lethal suicide behavior. The implication isetiological mechanism for all forms of suicide behavior. The neglected function ofpositive emotion provides important basis which cannot obtain through other risk factors. These findings conceptualized etiology of young people suicide for clinical evaluation. Itprovides treatment of suicide with a point cut and to better understand a comprehensivemental picture in suicidal individuals. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Suicide, The Interpersonal Theory, Positive Affect, Bi-factor Model, Anhedonia | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
