To build a good architecture model is the key to the successful construction of a complexinformation system. This Phd thesis is aimed at the architecture modeling of the complexinformation system of the railway Dedicated Passenger Lines DPL. The model is builtthrough the results of theoretical studies of complex information systems architecturemodeling and combining with the actual situation of China railway DPL closely. Thismodel ensures that the complex information system was successfully constructed. Theresearch subjects and contributions of this thesis are as following:Firstly, the grading architecture model of the complex information system is defined basedon the concepts of system architecture and its lifecycle and then architecture modelingprocess is described for each level. The fundamental theories of the formal description andverification of architecture model based on abstract algebra methods are emphasized.Secondly, based on the complexity analysis of the DPL information systems the overallframework model of the DPL information systems is created through in adoption of thelayered architecture planning concept. Moreover the hierarchical model structure and itscharacteristics are described.Thirdly, the overall SOA architecture model is built based on analyzing of the requirementcharacteristics of the operation and dispatching system of DPL, and then the detailedexplaination of this model is given from the following four perspectives: business,application, data and technology.Fourthly, a number of key issues in the implementation of the SOA architecture modelestablished for the operation and dispatching system of DPL are studied in-depth, and thenthe practical effects of this model are analyzed in application.The major contribution presented by the paper is that this thesis put forward a praticaltheory and method of architecture modeling for complex information system and apply it to the developing process of the operation and dispatching system of DPL. The success ofthe system implementation in Beijing-Shanghai DPL both embodies the guiding role ofsystem architecture model and proves the correctness and availability of the theoreticalresearch achievements given by this dissertation. In addition, the reusable architecturemodel created by this research can be used for high level reference in the similar systemconstruction in railway and other sectors of transportation industry.
