An intelligent robot is a sort of important method for intelligence simulation and an ideal platform for intelligence research. The architecture of an intelligent robot determines the spatio-temporal distributing mode of intelligence, behaviors, information, and control of the robot, and ultimately, determines the intelligence level and manners of the robot. The architecture cannot be isolatedly research without considering the cognitive functions and the intelligent behaviors of a robot. However, little research unifies the architecture, the cognitive functions, and the intelligent behaviors of a robot. Currently, the three layers are disjointed lacking a coherent model representation. Without such a model, it is inconvenient to analyze and design a robot system. Consequently, it is limited to increase the intelligence of robots. This dissertation aims to propose a neuropsychological model for intelligent robot by probing into the architecture, the cognitive functions, and the intelligent behaviors of a robot. The following original researches are carried out:The researches on intelligent robot architecture in the past twenty years are reviewed. A more perfect definition of intelligent robot architecture, covering the spatio-temporal distributing mode of intelligence, behaviors, information, and control of the robot, is updated. According to the updated definition, the traditional three classifications of intelligent robot architecture are expanded to eight classifications such as hierarchical, subsumption, three-layer, self-organizing, distributed, evolutionary control, anthropomorphic emotion, and social robot architecture. For each kind of architecture, the fundamentals and characteristics are commented. Four functional evaluation criterions for intelligent robot architecture are proposed and used to evaluate the neuropsychological model proposed in this dissertation by comparing with the functions of several typical intelligent robot architecures.A neuropsychological model for intelligent robot is proposed. The model unifies the neurophysiological architecture, the cognitive psychological mechanism, and the acting process of intelligent behaviors of a robot. The...
