The Military Information System, as the most important tool and platform for Operation Command, can promote the combat capacity effectively. However, in the isomerous C4ISR systems, integrative battle information cannot be recognized, connected, communicated and operated among subsystems. Its improved form, the Joint Operation Information System (JOIS), which reengineers the C4ISR systems, will build up a uniform architectural framework for the integrated combat system by combining the hierarchy systems of arms and services. To meet the demands of joint operation, this paper, on the basis of the system engineering technologies and software engineering technologies, makes a relatively thorough research on some key techniques of the JIOS, which will serve as the support for the total life cycle of the former's architecture. The main results and innovative points of the paper are as follows:1) The paper studies the methods and process of JOIS designing. On the foundation of the DoD architecture frame, the hierarchy architectural models of JOIN are researched with RUP method, which according to varied perspectives and levels, are integrated into a JOIS framework in the multiple perspective.2) On the basis of the function and character of xADL, it expatiates the whole framework, the architecture component and the architecture view models respectively, so that the JOIS architecture can be scaled, recomposed and replaced.3) In the view of data management, the paper investigates the meta-data framework of JIOS and defined its five grades. In it, the description method of the meta-data frame is explained. The meta-data of object-oriented military data are researched, which provides the possibility of the access to the JOIS. The description of command action ontology and data ontology, as well as the operation methods of the meta-data are also discussed.4) To achieve the connection, communication and operation in the subsystem, the middleware which serves for the JOIS is proposed. The paper also makes a research on the logical structure and mechanism of the management resources. Moreover, a prototype system of the middleware is created so that the component resources and data resources can be put into integrated management.5) Through the analysis on the QoS demands, the paper proposes an optimized QoS model based on the combination of AHP for demands of Operation and property of service component. It also puts forwards a pub/sub method based on meta-data of architecture resources, which is believed to be able to solve the dynamic consistency problem of the component resources in the JOIS.
