| The Huayuankou Event of 1938 is a great event in the Chinese modem history, which gives a great influence on the Chinese War of Resistance Against Japan. So it is of great importance in many disciplines.The history of the research on the Huayuankou Event is very complicated. China Mainland and Taiwan play their own roles, and have carried out their peculiar research and got good results respectively. The research of the Huayuankou Event between 1938 and 1945 is the deepening and scrutinizing of the former research in this paper. The historical conditions of the Huayuankou Event are fixed and inevitable. Third, the event must be reviewed and appraised according to the military stand of resistance and politics, society and morality. It cannot be argued sheerly according to the military viewpoint or political stand.Two conditions The research is made under two conditions. It is twofold to survey the Huayuankou Event once again at the present time. It has advantages anddisadvantages. Positively, more and more historical data have been discovered and exposed. This would not only help historical facts verify each other and raise the credibility of the research results but lay a very solid foundation for the research and expand the research. Passively, while some important historical materials come out, other materials are losing their proof value due to various reasons. Under such a condition, it is not only a top priority task but of great urgency to make researches on the Huayuankou Event. Furthermore, the event is sensitive to a certain degree now because the period of 1938-1945 is not so far, which obsesses inevitably the academic world.Two basic tasks The first task is to verify and confirm the past conclusions again in accordance with updated historical materials. For example, it was completely denied in the past that there were any notice and measures of evacuating inhabitants when the dyke was burst at Huayuankou. The latest data proved that that was not the case. Another example, who was the first person to produce the idea of taking advantage of the great obstruction and destruction of the Yellow River to strike and weaken Japanese army's powerful offensive?
