Objective:Observed the clinical effect of applying opposing needling at different time frames during recovery of ischemic stroke patients.Method:We carried out a controlled experiment to investigate the curative effect of applying opposing needling at different time frames post-ischemic stroke. A total of 83 qualified patients were randomly divided into 3 groups. According to the "The Chinese Medical Standard to Stroke Diagnosis",when the patients' physical signs became stable, those in treatment group 1 were applied opposing needling therapy on the second week after stabilization. For group 2,they began treatment on week 3;and those of group 3,the patients began treatment on week 4.At the end of treatment, the patients' neurological function was assessed as per the National Institutes of Health Stroke scale(NIHSS);their motor function was assessed according to Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA);and their quality of life was assessed using Barthel ADL(Activities of Daily Living) Index. The results after the treatment in all 3 groups were evaluated and analyzed to determine their effectiveness in treating post-ischemic stroke patients. Results:Clinical Study:After treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group 1,2 and 3 were 89.66%,64.29%and 61.54%,respectively.The patients' neurological function scores for the 3 groups were 9.52±7.52,13.11±8.15,and 14.54±7.33,respectively.Their motor function resulted in scores of 45.15±13.16,28.43±8.15,and 14.54±7.33,respectively.Their ADL scores were 52.83±15.17,30.43±10.15,and 29.91±11.41,respectively. Conclusions:Acupuncture treatment, namely opposing needling,in early stages after stroke was introduced to patients when all physical signs became stable. The therapeutic effect of acupuncture treatment in early stages was more significant than treatment at later stages. The mechanism of action worked to unblock the meridians, thus improving motor functions in the patients.
