In China, due to the market-oriented reform and opening policy, and the economic system transformed from planned pattern to market pattern, a long-lasting era when there was a shortage of doctors, medicine, and medical treatment resource has come to an end. A hospital-leading marketplace where it was difficult for patients to see a doctor or be hospitalized has been transformed to a patient-leading market in which patients have more options. Medical long market has already come into being. Market forces will decide a hospital's survival or development to a great extent. Under market competition, where is the way out for a hospital to survive and develop? Some scholars think that the key is the institutional reform. But the author believes that, under these circumstances, although the institutional reform on the public medical services is important, this kind of reform is an external and explicit change and really not an ultimate factor determining a hospital's vicissitude. In the severe competition between various hospitals with different ownerships and backgrounds, a hospital's survival and development depends on whether the hospital has core competition force ultimately or not. A hospital's core competition force is a key factor to decide the market portion it has and the prospect it will have. The fact that a hospital's core competition force is accepted by marketplace means the hospital has competitive advantages independently. So, any hospital in China, which wishes to win the market, should give prominence to its advantages and attach great importance to the identification and cultivation of its core comptence.Based on the facts above, this article firstly made a theoretic study on a hospital's core comptence after illustrating the related core comptence theories. In this thesis, the concepts, functions and characteristics of a hospital's core comptence have been analyzed, its formation mechanism and effect mechanism have been studied, and its administrative content, process and method have been discussed. On the other hand, with the employment of the enterprise core comptence appraising theory, and with the application of comparison analyses, qualitative and quantitative analysis, theory and practice analysis, we build up our own hospital's core appraises analysis model from three latitude. The representative hospital was chosen for further analysis to verify the maneuverability, rationality and reliability of the model. This study, to a certain extent, may supply a gap in the field of hygiene, and is a beneficial exploration on quantization of hospital core comptence. Finally, with the purpose of developing the hospitals in China, strengthening their core comptence, this thesis has put forward detailed countermeasures from three aspects: technic innovation and marketing, mechanism system innovation, and cultural innovation. It is believed that this study may have certain guiding significance for the hospitals'development in our country.
