How to use Prescription is based on several conditions, one of which is the virtue of prescription. There are several exact questions needing to resolve.The first, a lot of prescriptions in ancient books are described by herb ingredients and indications, which is not consist of the virtue of prescription.It's a obstacle to use the prescription correctly.The second, characterization of the virtue of prescription is not canonical where is different characterization in different books.The third, how to judge the virtue of prescription is not external, where exist subjective and optional phenomena.Now, there is no research in how to judge the virtue of prescriptionThe dissertation is based on the knowledge of the virtue of prescription in theory of TCM.The research tries to looking for a method to judge the virtue of prescription externally by using KDD technology.There are two methods to judge the virtue of prescription subjectively:one is based on the single herb in the prescription. The virtue of prescription can be found by analyse which herb is the most important, and which is subsidiary .The second is based on group of herb.The virtue of prescription also can be found by analyse which group of herb is in the prescription.The two ways to judge the virtue of prescription are similar with method of reducing multidimensional data in Knowledge Discovery Database.The dissertation analyses many factors which can effect the virtue of herb in the prescription, dose of the herb, collection of the virtue of herb, etc.In the dissertation, the virtue of prescription can be judged by two methods: the vectors of dimensions and artificial neural network.There are two database:one is including 179 prescriptions from the textbook , the second database including 166 prescriptions from the same book.The accuracy of the vectors of dimensions method is above 60%, and ANN is inferior to the first method.But ANN can judge some especial virtue of prescription, which can not be replaced.In a word, the two methods can judge the most virtue of prescription externally, which are worthing further research.
