Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)is a kind of disease characterized by diffuse alveolitis and alveolar structure destruction which finally leading to fibrosis. Its pathogenesis is not thoroughly understood till now. The incidence rate of IPF is about three to five people among ten thousand people. Recently the incidence rate of IPF has trend of increasing, and survival rate in five years is similar with lung cancer. Because of no specific medcine and dissatisfactory effects of glucocorticoid and cell toxin, IPF is difficult to treat. At present , the urgent question affronting the medical science field is to seek effctive medcine for IPF.Disequilibrium between synthesis and degradation of extracellular matrix(ECM) in IPF will cause over deposition of ECM, thus leading to fibrosis. So adjusting disequilibrium of ECM and decreasing its deposition will retard and stop IPF's development. According to TCM theory, the position of IPF is in the lung and related with Five Zang Organs, and deficiency of qi and yin,together with blood and phlegm stasis are the key pathogenesis. During the development of IPF,pathogen will transmiss from qi to blood.In this thesis, aiming directly at pathologic status of the disequilibrium of ECM metabolism, we observed the changes of ECM and characteristics of TCM syndromes at 7d, 14d and 28d, as well as observed the effects of BAOFEIFANG, professor Wuweiping's proved recipe, which effects are strenthening the lung and the kidney,eliminating phlegm and blood stasis and activating circulation in the collateral on IPF rats model induced by bleomycin. The experimental research includes five parts as following:1.The study on the effects of BFF on pathomorphology, pulmonary function and the content of HYP in IPF rats In this study, we observed the effects of BFF on IPF rats by observing general status of IPF rats (such as weight,movement and respiration,et al);assaying lung index, pulmonary function and HYP content as well as observing the changes in pathomorphology(HE and Masson staining).  The results showed as following. The phenomena of weight reducing, less move- ment, indexes of pulmonary function decreasing, lung index increasing in IPF rats manifested that the IPF rat model induced by bleomycin was successfully duplicat- ed,there being manifestation like human being. Under microscope,we observed different degree of alveolitis and collagen deposition between lung interstitial on pathological sections stained by HE and Masson. After BFF treatment,weight of IPF rats increased gradually, pulmonary function was improved, HYP content reduced and alveolitis and fibrosis were relieved. Image analytical results showed that after treament, areas of alveoli were obviously larger than those before treatment, while areas of alveolitis and fibrosis smaller. The results suggest that BFF can improve the markers above effectively, thus can improve the abnormal changes in IPF both on functional and structural aspects.2.he study on the effects of BFF on TCM syndromes in IPF rats In order to study the effect of BFF on IPF rats,we observed respiratory frequence, swimming timein warm water and hemorheology.The results showed as following.(1)IPF rats appeared shortness of breath, respira- tory frequence increased obviouly compared with normal group. Swimming time decreased and blood viscosity increased. All these showed significant differences with normal group. (2)After BFF treatment, respiratory frequence and blood viscosity reduced, and swimming time prolonged . Blood viscosity of rats treated with prednisone rised obviously,showing significant difference with normal group. The results suggested that there were qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome in IPF rats.Qi deficiency and blood stasis were not exist independently but can affect each other and can cause diseases together.The principle of BFF gives considration to both the vital-qi and pathogenic factors, so it can protect qi and yin, simultaneouly eliminate pathogen,thus can improve the patho...
