Part1: Impact of different concentrations of mitomycin andradiofrequency ablation on cockscomb model of hemangiomaSection1: Impact of different concentrations of mitomycin on cockscomb modelof hemangiomaObjective: To explore the optimal concentration of mitomycin in treatment forcockscomb model of hemangioma and provide theoretical basis for treatinghemangioma with mitomycin in clinic. Methods: Thirty-two leghorns were randomly divided into group A (n=8) as astandard control group and groups B, C, and D (n=8each) as experimental groups.A cockscomb model of hemangioma was established, with a certain agent injectedinto each cockscomb at four points,1mg/ml pingyangmycin was injected ingroup A,0.05mg/ml mitomycin was injected in group B,0.1mg/ml mitomycinwas injected in group C, and0.2mg/ml mitomycin was injected in group D. Werandomly selected8chickens at each of3d,7d,14d, and28d after experimentfor general observation and histological examination of each cockscomb, andcompared the groups in terms of the general situation, capillary reduction, andcollagenous fiber proliferation of cockcombs.Results:(1)General situation: Group A and group B showed similar changes, slightly less than group D, but group B did not have obvious changes.(2)Histological examination:â‘ Group A, C and D showed similar pathologicalchanges under light microscope, more obvious than group B.â‘¡The reduction rateof capillary: There were significant differences between the four drug groups(P<0.01). There was no significant differenences between group A and groups C and D (P>0.05). Result differences between group B and groups A, C, D weresignificant (P<0.01). There was a significant difference between group C andgroup D (P<0.05).â‘¢The proliferation rate of collagenous fiber: There weresignificant differences between the four drug groups (P<0.01). There was nosignificant difference between group A and group C (P>0.05). Result differencesbetween group B and groups A, C, and D were significant (P<0.01). There weresignificant differences between group D and groups A and C (P<0.05).Conclusion:0.1mg/ml mitomycin has the same effects as1mg/mlpingyangmycin in the treatment for cockscomb model of hemangioma. Section2: Impact of radiofrequency ablation on cockscomb model ofhemangiomaObjective: To explore the mechanism of radiofrequency ablation in treatment forcockscomb model of hemangioma and provide theoretical basis for treatinghemangioma with radiofrequency ablation in clinic. Methods: Twelve leghorns were used in this study. A cockscomb model ofhemangioma was established, with radiofrequency ablation treating eachcockscomb at four or five circular operation zones. We randomly selected3chickens at each of3d (group A),7d (group B),14d (group C), and28d (groupD) after experiment for general observation and histological examination of eachcockscomb, and compared the groups in terms of the general situation, capillaryreduction, and collagenous fiber proliferation of cockcombs.Results:(1)General situation: Black scabs emerged around operation zones at3d;circular black scabs formed in the surface of operation zones at7d; partial scabsdesquamated and appeared off-white in cockscomb at14d; scabs almostdisappeared and off-white was displayed in the operation zones at28d.(2)Histological examination:â‘ A large number of inflammatory cell infiltrated, the number of subcutaneous capillary decreased significantly, and collagenousfiber proliferated slightly at3d; inflammation and edema were relieved and collagenous fiber proliferated obviously at7d; inflammation and edemadisappeared and collagenous fiber proliferated obviously at14d; morecollagenous fiber proliferated at28d.â‘¡The reduction rate of capillary: Therewere no significant differences between the four groups (P>0.05).â‘¢Theproliferation rate of collagenous fiber: There were significant differences betweenthe four drug groups (P<0.01). Result differences between group A and groups Cand D and between group B and groups C and D were significant (P<0.01). Therewere significant differences between group A and group B and between group Cand group D (P<0.05).Conclusion: Radiofrequency ablation, with the characteristic of micro-invasion,precision, and few side effects, has the distinct effect to treat cockscomb model of Part2: Clinical evaluation of radiofrequency ablation in treatment ofsuperficial vascular anomaliesObjective: To evaluate the clinical effect and influence factor of radiofrequencyablation in the treatment of superficial vascular anomalies. Methods: We collected seventy patients treated with radiofrequency ablation forsuperficial vascular anomalies between March2004and December2011in ourdepartment, and retrospectively analyzed the clinical effect and influence factor ofradiofrequency ablation in the treatment of superficial vascular anomalies. Results: The effective rates were78.6%,50%,67.4%and50%in Strawberryhemangioma, mixed type hemangioma, venous malformations and port winestains, respectively, after the treatment of radiofrequency ablation, showing nosignificant differences between the four groups (P>0.05). There were significantdifferences among the patients with lesion areas and ages in the curative effect onsuperficial vascular anomalies after treatment of radiofrequency ablation. Thelesion site, whether or not to have received other treatments, sex, treatment times and course of disease had nothing to do with the curative effect (P>0.05). Theobvious improvement in clinical symptoms happened in77.5%of forty patients. Conclusion: Radiofrequency ablation can effectively reduce tumor size ofdifferent kinds of superficial vascular anomalies. Lesion area and patient's age arethe main influential factors in the effect of radiofrequency ablation in treatment ofsuperficial vascular anomalies. Radiofrequency ablation can effectively relieveclinic symptoms of superficial vascular anomalies. Radiofrequency ablation hasthe characteristic of safety and few side effects.
