ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effects on acne of the teen-agers by acupuncture combined herbal internal and external treatmentMethodsAccording to the random number table formulated before,60 cases of teenagers acne patients were randomly divided into acupuncture combined herbal internal and external treatment group (the treatment group) and Chinese herbal internal and external group fits the mask (the control group). The treatment group were treated with the triple therapy which included localacupuncture, herbal internal treatment and herbal mask treatment, while the control group were treated with herbal internal treatment and herbal mask treatment only. Both groups had herbal internal treatment and herbal mask treatment once a day. The treatment group also had acupuncture therapy once every two days. And 4 weeks was a cycle. Did the efficacy evaluation when following up before treatment, after 4-week treatment and one month after the completion of treatment. The observing indexes including clinical curative effect, the decrease rate of lesions before and after treatment as well as the influence to the therapy effects of two groups by the acne types, gender, age, duration and location.Results(1) The patients' acne, papula, the number of pustule and the sum of three lesions had decreased obviously(p<0.5) in each group. (2) Analysis of covariance indicated that after the treatment, the number of acne(F=0.733; P=0.395), papula pustule (F=0.557;P=0.458) and the sum of three lesions (F=2.019;P=0.161) had no significant difference between two group patients. The reducing rate of pustule also had no significant difference between two group patients (F=2.430; P=0.125). (3) The number of pustule in experimental group was significantly lower than control group (F=5.822, P=0.019).It indicated that comparing with bigeminy therapy, triple therapy can treat pustule effectivly. (4) Mann-Whitney examination found that pain levels of experimental group patients decreased obviously than control group. There was statistical significance between them(Z=3.489, P<0.001).(5) The total effect of experimental group was 96.7%,the total effect reached 90%. Mann-Whitney examination found that the total therapeutic effective of experimental group was superior to that of control group(Z=2.222, P=0.026).ConclusionThrough comparison, it is sure that acupuncture plus Chinese herbal medicine(CH M) both orally taken and externally applied better(treatment group) than that CH M orally taken and the facial mask of CH M externally applied(control group) to the curative effect of treating teenager acne. To the treatment of pustule, the treatment group's treatment result is better. It's related to partial skin removing extravasted blood and passing detachably after plus through acupuncturing at partial skin would be good for the medicine permeating of facial mask of CH M.
