Clinical Efficacy Observations On Treatment For Acne Vulgaris In Youth By Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method

Objective: To compare the effectiveness and safety between Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and Conventional Acupuncture,treating for youth who have acne vulgaris,by observing the results of the two options.To provide a treatment option that has better and faster action,base on discussing the advantages and mechanism behind Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method.Methods: 60 patients who met the usual acne diagnostic criteria and the inclusion of standards were recruited and randomly assigned to either treatment group or control group.30 patients in treatment group were treated with Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method,needling coetaneous areas for 30 minutes,including the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming on the face,the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming and the Spleen Meridian of Foot-Taiyin on the abdomen,and the Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin and the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang on dorsum pedis.Others in control group were treated with Conventional Acupuncture,acupoints based on Guideline for diagnosis and treatment of acne(the 2019 revised edition)and Meridian and Acupuncture.Acupuncture the points,including Baihui(DU20),Chize(L15),Quchi(LI11),Hegu(LI4),Sibai(ST2),Cuanzhu(BL2),Xiaguan(ST7),Jiache(ST6)and the are as around acne-prone on the face.The two groups were treated 3 times a week for 4 weeks.And the efficacy of each group is observed at week 0 and week 4.Respectively,the scores of various gauges were recorded,including Global Acne Grading System(GAGS),Facial Acne Count Scale,Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Scale,Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),and acupuncture acceptance of patients,ready to record acupuncture incidents.The statistical software SPSS26.0 was used to count and analyze data.And the scales scores of the two groups were compared before and after treatment and between the two groups,respectively,to assess the short-term efficacy of the two treatment methods for acne vulgaris in youth.Results: Effective 60 cases in this study were collected,of which 30 in the control group and 30 of treatment group.1.Baseline comparison: the differences of two groups in gender and age before treatment were not statistically significant.And no statistically significant differences were in GAGS score,facial acne count score,Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome score,HAMA score,HAMD score and acupuncture acceptance evaluation score;2.Comparison of efficacy:(1)Comparison of efficacy before and after treatment in each group:compared with before and after treatment,there were statistically significant differences in GAGS score,facial acne count score,Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome score,HAMA score and HAMD score between the two groups;(2)Comparison of efficacy between the two groups after treatment: after treatment,the differences in GAGS score,facial acne count score and Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome score between the two groups were not statistically significant,and the differences in HAMA score and HAMD score between the two groups were statistically significant.The efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of the control group.(3)Evaluation of acupuncture acceptance: the treatment group was better than the control group,with statistical significance;(4)Evaluation of safety: in the course of therapy,no patients in the two groups showed abnormal vital signs,and no adverse reactions,including dizziness,broken needles,infections,and severe bleeding occurred.Some patients occasionally suffered from bleeding or subcutaneous bleeding after acupuncture,which had been handled in time with no discomfort remaining.In this study,there were no patients of withdrawal due to adverse reactions.Conclusion: 1.In terms of improving the symptoms of facial lesions in youth with acne vulgaris,Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and Conventional Acupuncture are both effective and have similar efficacy.2.In terms of improving Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome in youth with acne vulgaris,both Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and Conventional Acupuncture are effective,and superficial Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method has a better result.3.In terms of relieving the feelings of anxiety and depression in youth with acne vulgaris,both Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and Conventional Acupuncture are proved to be effective,and Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method is more likely to be better than Conventional Acupuncture.4.In terms of the acceptance of acupuncture in youth with acne vulgaris,both Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and Conventional Acupuncture can improve,and Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method is preferable than Conventional Acupuncture.
