In this material and information technology flourishing society, more and more young people get cervical spondylosis(CS), which is used to be prevalent in the middle age and elderly people, due to engaging in the computer and/or lowering the head work profession, wallowing in video games and lacking exercise. Cervical spondylosis prevention and treatment is urgently needed. Acupuncture has been proved to be the best non-surgical treatment for cervical vertebra illness. It is a major issue for acupuncture clinical researcher to find out the best combination to enhance the efficacy of acupuncture. Superficial needling has been proved to have the same or better efficacy with the traditional needling. In order to make contribution, we did this superficial needling clinical study on cervical spondylosis. Objectives:Clinical observation on cervical spondylosis treatment by superficial needling and curative effect of superficial needling on different type of cervical syndromes.Methodology:Diagnosed cervical spondylosis patients were randomly selected and divided into odd-numbered superficial needling treatment group and even-numbered traditional needling control group.Treatment group:After being relaxed, patients were treated with superficial needling at Tianzhu(BL 10)(doubie),Tianliao(TE 15)(double),Dazhui(GV 14),Quchi(LI 11)(double),Zhongzhu(TE 3)(double) points and the tender points around neck Jiaji area. The depth of needling was 5~10mm. Patients were also treated with TDP lamp. Manipulating needle every 15 minutes, patients have been treated for 30 minutes daily, seven days a course. With two days break between courses, patients have been treated for two courses.Control group:Besides needling into 10~15mm depth, all the rest of the curative conditions were the same as the treatment group.Patient's age, gender disease duration, occupation,HAMAn,Mc Gill and NPQ pain rating,SF- 36 health questionnaire and QOL survival quality survey had been taken for both groups before treatment. All kind of Me Gill and NPQ pain measurement were collected respectively after treated for one week and two weeks for both groups. All data have been analysed by SPSS 17 statistical software for significance.Results:(1) After analysed all the information taken before treatment, all the P values>0.05, no statistical significance, the two groups were comparable.(2) Analysis Me Gill and NPQ pain rating after completion of the treatment, all P values >0.05, no statistical significance, both groups were effective on treating cervical spondylosis.(3) Comparing the curative effect by itself after been treated for one week and two weeks, both groups showed P<0.01, very significance,It is indeed a good way to treat CS with acupuncture.(4) Efficacy analysis:the superficial needling group with 88.9% and the deep needling group with 92% effective rate. After Chi-square Test, P= 0.869, P>0.05, no statistical significance, Both groups have the same curative effect on CS treatment.(5) There were limited diagnosed CS patients. In order to compare the effect of the needling on different type of CS, more research will be needed. Conclusion:Acupuncture is indeed the best choice for non-surgical treatment of CS. As effective as the traditional needling, superficial needling indues less pain during needling, is safe, reliable and is easy to operate. It is worth prompting.
