Background:In a day and age when everything is made simple, straight forward, and "user friendly" it seems rather "out dated", if not plain unnecessary to have to study scientific textbooks that resemble ancient literary compositions. It isn't a lack of diligence that makes simplification relevant for books in the field of science but, more importantly because the main aim of reading them isn't providing food for our imagination, and mental entertainment. But, rather, understanding the concept(s) provided.TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and it's concepts are quite foreign to most Westerners to begin with. So, if this challenge is accompanied by complicated sentences, obsolete words and almost no illustrations it can be discouraging and quite overwhelming to newcomers.Method:Gathering a wide range and variety of books (written and prepared by authorized TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) scholars and practitioners) on the subject of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was only the 1 st step in this "journey of a thousand miles"The next step was obtaining suitable information for the relevant parts of the thesis from the provided literature. After thoroughly reviewing these sources, it was decided as to which parts would best serve each heading (title). Some sources were better suited for their "Basic Theories of TCM" (Traditional Chinese Medicine),others for their "Herb" or "Acupuncture" contents. Each had their own advantages. What was most appropriate was extracted and saved. Results:It is hopefully correct for me to arrive at the conclusion that the outcome of this study has landed at as close a proximity as possible to it's designated target audience. The result of this long, arduous, yet fascinating, and at times tantalizing journey has been a "relatively" concise reference for students of Medicine and the Health Sciences. To be able to consult as an introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).Having this specific group of readers in mind, it has been adapted as craftily as possible to suit their knowledge and needs. Conclusions:It is suggestible (since most of the textbooks and references on the subject of TCM are a somewhat word-by-word translation into English) that authors of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) references and textbooks seek to make them more "user friendly' by focusing on conveying the concepts of Chinese Medicine as straight forward as possible.Simple language, short sentences and an abundance of illustrations do wonders in providing a desirable result.
