Flos Farfara,whose main places of production are Hebei,Shaanxi, Shanxi,Gansu,Chongqing and so on,is the dry alabastrum of Tussilago farfara L.It has a long medical history and is widely used in Clinic.Indicated from literature,Flos Farfarae is in the lack of not only Scientific evaluation system of the quality standard but also unified and standardized cultivation standards,which impact the its clinical safety and effectiveness.So it is important to establish the Flos Farfarae's standards of quality and standardized production.Making Wuxi County of Chongqing as experimental basis,we do the study of Flos Farfarae as follows:first,the investigation of herbal textual, botany,morphology,and cytology,second,the investigation of standardized cultivation and quality standard,third,the research of quality evaluation system;fourth,the formulation of quality standard and cultivation specification.Through the study of herbal textual,we knew that in the "Certificates of Materia Medica",the Flos Farfarae of Yongzhou is Japanese butterbur rhizome from textual descriptions and pictures.It is counterfeit drug. Using the digital microscopy we investigated the morphology,cytology and Palynology,then established the standard of microscopic identification.On the basis of study on atmosphere,water,and soil in production places, we firstly concluded the relationship between different types and levels of fertilizer and the yield and quality,then established the standard of fertilizer.What's more,we did the correlation study of cultivation way,density,cultivation time,continuous cropping,slope,plant adjustments and hormone to the yield and quality,then proposed the unified and standardized cultivation standards. From the research of endophyte and the microbial resistance,we found the genus Fusarium fungus,which has strong effect and provide new reference of further study on pharmacological effect in the future.In order to provide a comprehensive and reliable basis of the quality of Flos Farfarae,we determined the inspection items which include water, water-soluble extract,ash and acid insoluble ash,heavy metals and arsenic salt.Beside these,we firstly established the quality evaluation system which using tussilagone,hyperin and rutin as internal indicators, and developed the finger printing and quality standard of it.
