There are a lot of Chinese Tang Era stories among the ancient and modern Japanese literary works. And in these stories the numerous China elements are revealed. Through the analysis of these literary works, "Changan" imagery of the Japanese literature will be investigated.This article consists of two components. At first it is to discover the element of the image in China, and the second investigates the contemporary literature, the background of which are assumed Chang’an of Tang Era, and then examines "Chang’an" image.The main material of the first part is sourced from the three aspects. First, Ishida Mikinosuke "Changan spring". In this case, adopting the text study, the first essay "Changan spring" and other historical essays are analyzed. In other historical essays some of the culture of Tang Era and Changan customs are described. It including 22 items like "Huxuan"dance, "Hu Ji", the lantern festival lanterns, rope acrobatic play, Tug of war, Word dance, Courtesan and so on. In Historical Summary book " Datang spring" also has many of the same content, which was published after the World War Ⅱ by Ishida Mikinosuke.Second, the literature about the Japanese envoys for China on Tang Era are described. After introducing the Japanese envoys, two legends are discussed:"Qing minister" and "Ghost of Abe Nakamaro helped Kibi minister". Then main theme on this topic is the evolvement about the legend of "Abe Nakamaro". After introducing Ennin’s travel of Tang China, the activities in Mount Wutai and Changan are described. Then Ⅰ discuss Ennin’s Legends (KOUKECHI City Legend) and its influence on later ages.Third, some of the ancient Chinese literature which influence Japanese literature are discussed, after introducing the Japanese method of reading the classical Chinese Ⅰ discuss the poetry and Novels of the Tang Era. Also discusses the modern novels whichi adapted Tang Era Novels:"Li Wa Chuan" and " and "The story of Li Wa", "Lv qiao" and "Yu Xuanji, "Du zichun Chuan" and "Du zichun". In addition, I discussed about the Yearning for China culture literature, which are found out in modern Japanese travel essays.On the second part, the contemporary popular literature, the background of which are assumed Chang’an of Tang Era, are investigated. Then about the elements of Changan, that are appeared in those literature, is also discussed. The works are classified as follows:the entertainment novels by female writers, the entertainment novels by the male bestseller writers, the secondary Legendary imitation novels, the detective novels and the historical novels.The plot of the main novels are explained, and the description of some writer are also attached.These novels are text-studied in the next five aspects, which are the poetry of the Tang Era, the novels of the Tang Era, the person, the events and the places. Finally, the influence of "Changan spring" to these novels are explored.The majority of literary works in this article are written by Japanese language, in order to avoid complication, the original text are placed in Appendix, except of the special cases. Some sort of information are provided in the form of a table.
