Statistical Analyses And Coping Advices About The Costs Of Medicare For Army Inpatients With High-Expenditure Diseases

Recently there has been a contradiction of supply-need due to insufficient input of medical costs and great increase of medical need in army patients that has disturbed our military hospitals for a long time. How to ensure effectively the basic medical need of army patients, inhibit extra medical costs, and reduce the waste of medical resources? These are an important part in the present ongoing researches on reformation of the system of military medical support.The inpatients with high-expenditure is a main part in the army inpatients. They are small in number but big in medical costs. Furthermore, in recent years, there have been a markedly increasing tendency in population ratio constituent and a more greatly rising amplitude in expenditure ratio constituent. The army inpatients with high-expenditure is a dominating constituent in medical resources costs of military hospitals.It is a most important basis in development of coping strategies of inhibiting medical extra expenditure and reducing medical resources waste that we accurately and objectively analyze the factors that affect hospitalization costs of army inpatients, and how severe they influence it. The present study took army inpatients with high -expenditure as objects of investigation, obtaining their data from the first page of all discharged case records in 1996 at 78 hospitals of two war districts of Lanzhou and Nanjing. Many statistical methods were used to analyze the type distribution of hospitals that received the inpatients with high-expenditure, the identity constituent of all objects of investigation, the type of the diseases of inpatients and the factors that influence the hospitalization costs.
