1. Comparative Study on TwoTypes of Cannulation Sites for Left Ventricular AssistanceThere are two types of cannulation methods for left ventricular assistance clinically, the left atrial-to-aortic bypass and the left ventricular-to-aortic bypass, on which exist long-term debates. This study was performed to compare the two types of cannulation sites in terms of hemodynamics, ultrasonograhy, myocardial oxygen metabolism and vital organ functions, in an attempt to provide laboratoary basis for proper selection of cannulation sites for clinical left ventricular assistance and to evaluate the blood compatibility and hydraulic performance of the centrifugal pump used hereof.Twelve healthy mongrel dogs were randomized equally into the left atrial-to-aortic bypass group (the LA group) and the left ventricular-to-aortic bypass group (the LV group) and underwent, hemodynamic, echocardiographic, hematological and metabolic tests consecutively from preimplant of the centrifugal pump, to 4 hours postimplant. An electromagnetic flow meter was used to monitor the...
