Objective: To investigate the plasma concentraton of adiponectin in type 2 Diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and normal glucose tolerance (NGT) and its correlation with the risk factors of type 2 diabetesResearch Methods and Procedures: 21 subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT), 24 with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), and 40 with type 2 diabetes was studied. Plasma adiponectin was measured by ELISA assay. BMI, WHR, Fasting blood glucose and insulin and HOMA-IR were measured. Beside, serum adiponectin concentration was compared between the obese subject and lean subject(cut point was BMI=25 Kg/m~2).Linear correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression ananlysis were conducted to investigate the correlation between adiponectin and risk factors. Results: Mean fasting plasma adiponectin was significantly lower in the type 2 diabetes group in comparison with NGT. Even the data in IGT was lower than that in NGT while there was no significance. In comparison with the male, the serum adiponectin in female showed elevated instead and still no significance there.Plasma adiponectin in obese subjects were slightly decreased than that in the non-obese individuals without any significance .There was a significant negative correlation between adiponectin and WHR ,fasting insulin ,TG and...
