The Impact Of The Covid-19 Pandemic To The E-Commerce In Davao City,Philippines

E-commerce in the Philippines is a growing trend as it has just been recently recognized.Even with its growing popularity,it was indicated that Davao City has a relatively small e-commerce market compared to the other cities in the country.With the fresh recognition that e-commerce has in Davao City,it has been interrupted with the crisis that the whole world is facing today.The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the normal lifestyle of the people.With that,this study aimed to identify the impact of what COVID-19 gave to the e-commerce industry in Davao City,Philippines.This study will give an overview of the buyers’ and sellers’ perspective on e-commerce in Davao City,on how the pandemic has affected their online transactions.There will also be data that shows the influence of the pandemic to the sales of e-commerce trade.The researcher employed a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods.Interviews and questionnaires were conducted to get a thorough grasp of this study.Secondary data were obtained from existing literature and online observation.They were used as a support in analyzing the findings of the research as well as stating the research’s conclusion backed with the data collected from the survey questionnaires and interviews.The researcher presented results through figures and tables which were analyzed and discussed at the end of this paper.The result of the study suggests that e-commerce has significantly increased during the pandemic as restrictions have been imposed in the city and the threat of contracting the virus is high.On this basis,the concept of e-commerce transactions should be taken into account as it proved to be useful especially with this time of crisis.This thesis selection is very relevant in today’s current circumstance.It is very timely because there is still the Covid-19 pandemic now.It gives an overview of the pandemic’s effects on e-commerce,whether negative or positive.This study hopes to benefit sellers and buyers who plan to enter e-commerce by identifying factors that influence advantages/ disadvantages and thereby provide suggestions to improve the current economy through online transactions...
