Secondary school is a crucial time in a person’s physical and mental growth, and it’s also the time when children with hearing loss get broad career distraction.Students’ intrinsic desire for studying and capacity for career planning depend on the maturity of their career constructions."Autonomous development" is one of the fundamental characteristics expected of Chinese students, and it calls on students to acquire knowledge and lead healthy lives. This necessitates a high degree of positive psychological capital growth and an aptitude for self-directed learning.Due to their incomplete perceptual activities, primarily unintended attention, and negative psychology, students with hearing impairment require immediate care when it comes to developing their autonomy. This study investigates the influence mechanism of self-directed learning and positive psychological capital on career construct maturity and uses a group-assisted program based on narrative drawing therapy to conduct an intervention study in order to provide reference. The study is based on an analysis of the current situation and the relationship between positive psychological capital,self-directed learning, and career construct maturity of hearing-impaired secondary school students. There were two sections to this study: Study 1 conducted a questionnaire survey and data analysis of hearing-impaired secondary school students in Jilin Province using the Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire, the Self-Directed Learning Disposition Scale for Secondary School Students, and the Career Maturity Scale for Secondary School Students as research instruments.(1)Students who had taken career courses had better development on positive psychological capital and its sub-dimensions,and residential students had significantly higher levels of resilience than non-residential students on the resilience dimension.Positive psychological capital of hearing-impaired secondary school students showed a decreasing trend, with the level of optimistic development declining as the grade level increased.(2)Hearing-impaired secondary school students exhibit a poor propensity for self-directed learning.Girls also exhibit significantly higher levels of active learning development than boys, whereas boys exhibit a poor learning propensity.Non-only children also exhibit better active learning development,as do students who have taken career-related courses.(3)The development level of male students was higher than that of female students in independence and career self-knowledge,although it showed a decreasing trend over time;the maturity of career constructs of only children was better developed;students who had taken career courses had better development in maturity and stability of career constructs and career world-knowledge.(4)Self-directed learning and the development of professional conceptions were related, although their link was moderated by positive psychological capital.Based on the results of Study 1,Study 2 employed narrative drawing therapy as its main method to externalize concerns, awaken the subconscious, and identify solutions utilizing narrative and drawing-based forms. The analysis and comparison of the pretest and post-test results of the experimental and control groups revealed an increase in the positive psychological capital,self-directed learning, and career concept maturity among the experimental group students. In other words, the self-programmed group counseling program was effective in raising the hearing-impaired secondary school students’ level of career construct maturity.Based on the findings of Studies 1 and 2,it was determined that students with hearing impairments could directly mature their career constructions and indirectly mature their career constructs by enhancing their positive psychological capital through self-directed learning.Yet,students with hearing impairment are less proficient in psychological literacy, career conceptions, and learning literacy.Narrative drawing therapy has been effective in helping healing.
