Engineering thinking is an essential high-level thinking ability for high-quality and innovative engineering and technical talents in the future digital,information-based,and intelligent society.It is an inherent requirement for "practical innovation",one of the core competencies of Chinese students’ development.The cultivation of engineering thinking cannot be separated from engineering education,and maker education is a general engineering education form that extends from information technology courses during the compulsory education stage.However,in actual teaching,few teachers are aware of the engineering education attribute of maker education in primary and secondary schools,and do not attach importance to the cultivation of students’ engineering thinking,resulting in poor practical effects of maker works.The CDIO model,as a mature engineering education model,has been widely applied in many fields.It not only strengthens educators’ emphasis on engineering thinking,but also makes up for the shortcomings in conventional teaching,balancing students’ diverse development in personal practice,professional knowledge,and comprehensive abilities.This study first combed and analyzed the relevant research status of CDIO mode,engineering thinking and maker learning activities at home and abroad,determined the research issues,research content and research methods,and completed the concept definition.Secondly,under the guidance of constructivism theory,system engineering methodology,"learning by doing" and other theoretical foundations,according to the CDIO syllabus and 12 standards,the design principles of maker learning activities are summarized from five aspects: learning objectives,learning content,learning process,learning methods and learning evaluation,And take "Conception(C)" "Design(D)" "Implementation(I)" and "Operation(O)" as the main line to preliminarily design the process of maker learning activities to cultivate junior high school students’ engineering thinking.Finally,combined with the specific theme of maker learning,the teaching plan was formulated and through three rounds of action research practice,the process of maker learning activities was continuously improved and optimized according to the feedback of each round of teacher-student activities,and the data collected from classroom observation,engineering work scoring,pre and post questionnaire of engineering thinking,teacher-student interview records and other research were analyzed in detail to verify the effect of CDIO mode in cultivating junior high school students’ engineering thinking,And obtain the final application of CDIO mode to cultivate middle school students’ engineering thinking in the maker learning activity process.The research shows that:(1)The application of CDIO mode design in the process of maker learning activities can promote the effective development of students’ engineering thinking;(2)The application of CDIO mode in the process of maker learning activities is conducive to improving the effectiveness of maker learning,and greatly improving the completion,scientificity,artistry,and creativity of student engineering works.
