In the "14th Five-Year Plan",it is clearly required to promote the decision-making and deployment of the adjustment of the transportation structure,and to promote the"road to railway,road to waterway" for bulk cargo transportation as the main direction,actively promote the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system,and improve the development of comprehensive transportation networks.With the advancement of the new urbanization policy,the development of my country’s urbanization has shifted from the traditional urbanization that increases the urbanization rate to the people-oriented new urbanization.Therefore,it is particularly important to realize urbanization from high-speed development to high-quality development.Based on the integration of research results of related disciplines,this paper attempts to start the research from the perspective of "revolutionary railway",and combines the panel threshold model to study the nonlinear impact of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency,which will provide research in this field.new ideas.Based on the panel data of 29 provinces,cities and autonomous regions in China from 1987 to 2019,this paper explores the impact of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency from a nonlinear perspective.First,the existing domestic and foreign literature and related theories are reviewed to explore the impact mechanism of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency;secondly,the DEA-SBM model including unexpected outputs is used to analyze my country’s urbanization efficiency,and to analyze the time and space of China’s urbanization efficiency.Heterogeneity Secondly,the DEA-SBM model including unexpected outputs is used to analyze my country’s urbanization efficiency,and to analyze the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of China’s urbanization efficiency Finally,the panel threshold model is used to explore the nonlinear impact of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency with transportation structure as the core explanatory variable.The innovative point of this paper is to research the nonlinear influence of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency under the background of " Road Transportation to Railway Transportation",and to analyze the difference of influence on urbanization efficiency when the ratio of transportation structure is in different intervals by taking the transportation structure itself as the threshold variable.Through the analysis of the mechanism of action and empirical research,this paper draws the following conclusions.First,the transportation structure has a nonlinear impact on the urbanization efficiency,and it changes from negative to positive,that is,the ratio of railway freight turnover to road freight turnover exceeds the threshold,and the impact is positive.Secondly,there is regional heterogeneity in the impact of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency.There is a significant threshold effect in the eastern,central and western regions.The threshold effect of transportation structure on urbanization efficiency in the eastern region is consistent with that at the national level,and the promotion effect is greater in the central and Western regions when it is lower than the threshold value.Finally,there is no threshold effect in Northeast China,but the transportation structure has a significant promoting effect on urbanization efficiency.
