Disciplinary competitiveness refers to the strength that disciplines in higher education institutions,as the main body of competition,show in international or domestic competition.Carrying out the competitiveness of disciplines is not only helpful for colleges and universities to clarify their own competitiveness status and their superior and inferior positions,but also helps the government and colleges and universities to better formulate further strategic plans.In recent years,competition among universities has become increasingly fierce.In essence,competition among universities is competition among disciplines,and the level of discipline competition directly reflects the level of a university.2020 is the final year of my country’s first round of "Double First-Class" construction.In this context,how to develop disciplines in colleges and universities,how to formulate appropriate discipline development strategies to improve discipline competitiveness,and actively respond to the new situation of "double first-class" construction have become a common topic in higher education circles.This research takes the disciplinary competitiveness of colleges and universities represented by the funding amount of the National Natural Science Foundation of China as a breakthrough,and is guided by the theory of competitive advantage capability and resource-based theory,and proposes a new idea of disciplinary competitiveness evaluation among colleges and universities.Comprehensively use statistical analysis method and comparative research method to compare the discipline competitiveness of first-class universities from two aspects: intra-disciplinary competitiveness and inter-disciplinary competitiveness,so as to see the current situation of discipline development.And further through the interview method to summarize and analyze the factors that affect the competitiveness of disciplines,in order to put forward appropriate suggestions for the future development of disciplines in various colleges and universities.Through the statistical analysis of the acquisition of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in the three time periods of 2010-2019,2010-2014 and 2015-2019,the conclusions are as follows: In the static deviation share analysis,each Between 2010 and 2019,the amount of funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China increased significantly,but there was a significant difference between the increase in funding and the growth rate.The difference in the disciplinary competitiveness among the 35 universities is mainly in the deviation component of the competitiveness between the disciplines.There is no significant difference in the deviation component of the competitiveness within the discipline,and the negative effect of the increase in the amount of funding brought by the competitiveness between the disciplines is much higher than that of the universities.The positive effect brought about by the competitive advantage within the discipline.Further from the analysis of the advantageous disciplines of colleges and universities,we can see that there are six situations in the competitiveness of 35 colleges and universities in eight disciplines.In the dynamic deviation share analysis,280 disciplines in 35 colleges and universities have a total of four discipline development states,namely non-stop type,unpredictable type,lack of growth type,and energy-preparing type.Based on this finding,there are only 61 disciplines with advantages in both inter-school competitiveness and intra-disciplinary competitiveness,and most disciplines are still relatively disadvantaged in at least one aspect.Through further interviews,it is found that the reasons affecting the differences in the performance of discipline competitiveness are as follows,and corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward based on this.The competitive advantages of disciplines with strong intra-school and inter-school competitiveness are mainly reflected in two aspects:sufficient reserve of discipline resources and continuous expansion of discipline direction.Adopting a pioneering and innovative strategy for this discipline can promote the common development of discipline increment and discipline stock.At the same time,take the initiative to plan a new pattern of discipline construction.Disciplines with weak intra-school competitiveness and strong inter-school competitiveness are mainly affected by the outstanding rigid indicators of the discipline and the shift of the focus of the development of colleges and universities.For this discipline,a connotative development strategy is adopted,and a reasonable supervision and management mechanism is constructed while continuing the supply of resources.Regular dynamic monitoring of the discipline to ensure the sound development of the discipline.Disciplines with weak intra-school and inter-school competitiveness.On the one hand,the discipline is a disadvantaged discipline in colleges and universities,and the discipline culture is weak.A specific strategy is adopted for this discipline.By expanding the channels for obtaining discipline resources,it can meet the discipline’s demand for resources,while paying attention to Problems such as the burnout of subject teachers,stimulate teachers’ academic enthusiasm and optimize teachers’ academic atmosphere;on the other hand,adopt the strategy of seeking progress while maintaining stability in saturated subjects,establish an open and free space for subject development,and inject power into subject development from multiple channels.The disciplines with strong intra-school competitiveness and weak inter-school competitiveness are mainly affected by the lack of discipline reserve force and the solidification of discipline research direction.The development strategy of benchmarking is adopted for this discipline to guide the extension of university disciplines from intra-campus benchmarking to off-campus benchmarking,and Pay attention to the introduction and cultivation of young talents,and on the basis of ensuring the software and hardware environment,resource allocation and personal treatment related to scientific research,give full play to the radiation effect of introduced talents,urge talents to expand the field and direction of disciplinary research after they arrive at the school,and promote the discipline Rapid development.
