Scientific inquiry and Innovation consciousness,one of the core qualities of the subject in the Chemistry Curriculum Standards for General High School revised in 2017,proposes that scientific inquiry is a series of scientific practice activities of scientific explanation and discovery,creation and application.Experiment is a very common form of practical activities in chemistry teaching,which plays an irreplaceable role for students in other teaching forms."Experimental inquiry" is an exploratory activity carried out through experiments,which is the embodiment of scientific inquiry in chemistry experimental teaching.Effective experimental exploration activities can make students understand the theoretical knowledge of the textbook more thoroughly,which is conducive to stimulate students’ interest in learning chemistry.In the process of experimental exploration,students can cultivate the scientific spirit of diligent thinking,standardized operation,unity and cooperation,innovation and practice.On the basis of inquiry learning theory,SOLO classification theory and science education theory,combined with the current situation of new curriculum reform,this paper discusses the purpose and significance of cultivating students’ experimental inquiry ability in high school chemistry teaching.Through literature research method and basic element analysis method,the paper integrates the inquiring ability of chemistry experiment of senior high school students into four basic elements:question raising and conjecture,experiment design and implementation,phenomenon recording and analysis,communication,expression and cooperation,and divides each element into four levels according to the core accomplishment of the discipline.The four levels cover the different performance of students from Levels 1 to 4 on each ability factor,and presents the forward relationship in turn.Based on this,a self-rating scale of chemical experiment inquiry ability of senior high school students is developed,and part of grade 2 students in all senior high schools in Xinzhou District are investigated by likert five-scale method.To test the effectiveness of self rating scale and student since of the evaluation results and the practical ability,this study designed three work orders,and on the factors affecting the chemical reaction rate,ammonia fountain experiment and quantitative to explore the reaction rate of zinc with dilute sulphuric acid as experimental subjects,the experimental investigation on the selected sample of 80 students ability of comprehensive evaluation.In this paper,five high schools in Xinzhou district are divided into two categories,among which Xinzhou No.1 High School is provincial model high school,and the other four are municipal model high school.Students in these two types of schools are given questionnaires respectively,and the following results are obtained.①On the whole,the comprehensive level of experimental inquiry ability of provincial demonstration high school students is higher than that of municipal demonstration high school students;②The experimental abilities of the two types of high school students are similar in the three basic elements of question raising and conjecture,phenomenon recording and analysis,communication and expression and cooperation.By contrast,the experimental design and implementation abilities of both provincial and municipal model school students are weak and need to be strengthened and improved.The reason may be that there are few experimental courses in high schools in this area,and students have few opportunities to practice.③In the four elements of experimental inquiry ability of provincial model schools,the communication,expression and cooperation ability of middle school students are generally strong,which may be that provincial model high school students are more active;However,the students of the demonstration high schools have better ability of recording and analyzing phenomena,which may be the result of more thinking training.④The four inquiry abilities of both boys and girls exceeded the level of "basically consistent";Both boys and girls were the weakest in experimental design and implementation,and the strongest in communication,expression and cooperation.⑤Male students are better than female students in question raising and guessing ability,experimental design and implementation ability,female students are better than male students in phenomenon recording and analysis ability,communication expression and cooperation ability.On the basis of this study,the author puts forward the strategies to effectively improve the inquiring ability of chemistry experiment of senior high school students from the aspects of the configuration of chemistry laboratory,the teaching concept of chemistry experiment,the teaching method of chemistry experiment and the proportion of chemistry experiment types.
