“Those who win the hearts of the people gain the world,and those who lose the hearts of the people lose the world.”The advent of the new media era has facilitated the public management and services of local governments,provided autonomy for the public to choose and understand information,released the public’s right to speak,and broadened the channels for public political participation.At the same time,the complexity of the network environment also poses new challenges to the improvement of the credibility of local governments,such as public emergencies and online public opinion,which makes the improvement of government credibility fall into the quagmire of the “Tacitus trap”.As the main provider of public services,the improvement of the credibility of local governments is conducive to increasing the public’s trust and satisfaction with the government,promoting the implementation of various policies of the party and the government and reducing the cost of government public management,and is also an important part of the government’s image construction.With the rapid development of the Internet and new media technology,citizens’ enthusiasm for political participation has been further stimulated,and the influence of online public opinion has become increasingly prominent,which has had an impact on the traditional governance concepts and administrative methods of local governments,and the credibility of local governments has a long way to go.By studying the opportunities and challenges faced by local governments in the new media era,this paper analyzes the current situation and insufficient credibility of the S provincial government in the new media era on the basis of the responsible government theory and public governance theory,and finds that the main manifestations of the insufficient credibility of the S provincial government in the new media era are the public’s satisfaction with the work of local governments,the low enthusiasm of public online political participation,and the insufficient role of the use of new media for government affairs to enhance the credibility of the government.In the face of negative public opinion impact,the public’s trust in the government has weakened,etc.,by analyzing the main causes of its causes,the main reasons are insufficient to build a government satisfactory to the people,the poor communication between the government and the public information,the insufficient construction of the new media platform for government affairs,the ability of government public opinion governance to be improved,and the network environment is not standardized and orderly.Creating a clean cyberspace is the path choice to enhance the credibility of the government,provide ideas for improving the credibility of the provincial government in the new media era,and also provide a reference for the construction of government credibility in other prefectures and cities,and provide a strong guarantee for promoting the modernization of China’s governance system and governance capacity.
