Research On The Influence Of Population Aging On Industrial Structure Upgrading

According to National Bureau of Statistics data,the proportion of the Chinese population aged 65 and up to the total population reached 14.2%in 2021.Implement the national strategy for actively coping with population aging,encourage the growth of the elderly care business and industry,optimize services for orphans and widows,and promote the access of all elderly people to basic elderly care services." Obviously,in the context of an aging population age structure,a thorough and systematic theoretical and empirical examination of the relationship between population aging and industrial structure modernization is critical to promoting China’s economy’s realization of high-quality development and industrial structure modernization.This can reasonably plan the coordinated development of population aging and industrial structure upgrading,effectively seize potential opportunities for economic development,and make useful and relevant policy recommendations to government departments.It has theoretical and practical implications for positive and stable economic development.This paper begins by summarizing and analyzing existing research on population aging and industrial structure;the model is then built using provincial panel data from 30 provinces and divided into three regions:eastern,central,and western,to show the regional heterogeneity of the impact of population aging on industrial structure upgrading;and finally,the empirical findings’ robustness is tested.The following are the paper’s main findings:from an overall perspective,the impact of aging on industrial structure upgrading is significant and positive;according to sub-regional studies,aging has the greatest impact on industrial structure upgrading in the central region,followed by the eastern and western regions;in terms of the mediating impact,population aging forces enterprises to choose human capital to replace physical capital via the labor demand effect and promotes the transformation of traditional industries into high-tech,innovative industries.Furthermore,the deepening of aging has increased elderly consumption to some extent,but this promotion has yet to be improved,and there is still a lot of room for the elderly industry to develop.According to the previous study,the age structure of the people and the modernization of the economic structure do not have to be mutually exclusive.We should follow this trend in the context of China’s deepening population aging,fully capitalize on the population aging’s driving impact on industrial structure upgrading,consider the effect of population aging on industrial structure upgrading in various Chinese regions,encourage the accumulation of human capital and boost investment in the elderly consumption market,and realize industrial structure upgrading.
