Loneliness is an unpleasant experience of negative emotions.Almost everyone has been attacked by varying degrees of loneliness.Individuals who have been in a state of high loneliness for a long time will experience negative emotions such as emptiness, boredom, hopelessness, anxiety and helplessness, and even panic and despair. The high school stage is the most stressful period in the growth of adolescents. The burden of schoolwork, classmate competition, and teacher-student relationship will all affect the loneliness experience of high school students. If you are in severe loneliness for a long time, the mental health and adaptability of high school students will be greatly affected.Sleep is important to everyone, and low-quality sleep is significantly associated with negative emotions and bad behaviors. For high school students with rapid physical and mental development, adequate and high-quality sleep is of great significance. There have been a lot of studies on adult sleep quality and loneliness, but there are few studies on the relationship between sleep quality and loneliness of high school students, and there is a lack of research on the relationship between coping styles as an intermediary variable and in-depth exploration of the relationship between the three. Therefore, this study uses sleep quality as the starting point to explore the mediating role of coping styles between sleep quality and loneliness, and analyzes the role of gender on this basis.Taking 521 high school students as the research objects, the questionnaire method was used to investigate the relationship between sleep quality and loneliness. The results of the study showed that:(1)The quality of sleep in the second grade is worse than that in the first and third grades;(2)The high school students actively respond The average score of style is higher than that of negative coping style;(3)The loneliness experienced by high school students is stronger than that of high school students;(4)High school students’ sleep quality, coping styles and loneliness are related in two ways: high sleep quality is accompanied by more active coping styles and lower loneliness;low sleep quality is accompanied by negative coping styles and high loneliness. This study draws the following conclusions: the overall quality of sleep among high school students is poor, loneliness is common, and the overall coping style is relatively positive. The quality of sleep of high school students can directly affect loneliness, and it can also indirectly affect loneliness through coping styles. When boys’ sleep quality is better, they will use more positive coping styles;when girls’ sleep quality is worse, they will use more negative coping styles.Mental health work can start with improving students’ sleep quality and cultivating positive coping styles, increasing students’ attention to sleep, and guiding high school students to choose positive coping styles to face the difficulties and setbacks in life, thereby reducing students’ loneliness.
