Gestalt psychology was developed in the early 1920 s by German psychologists Max Weber and Kurt Lewin.Originating from the study of works of art and culture, the theory focuses on the structures of human thought and perception and the influence of these structures on human behaviour and experience.Western academics and artists began to focus on the ’visual perception and emotional psychology of artworks’.In the mid-20 th century, the theory of ’environmental consciousness’ was developed by artists, emphasising the need to create and design murals from the viewer’s perspective, incorporating the viewer’s feelings and aesthetic awareness of the environmental space into the design of the mural. This paper situates mural painting within psychology, aesthetics, colour, materials, sociology and visual and tactile theories to explore the relationship between human perception, cognition, emotion and mural art;the role and effect of colour in the creation of murals;the impact of the choice and use of different materials on the expressiveness and permanence of works;and the differences in the creation and expressive styles of murals in different geographical and cultural contexts.Explore the heritage, innovation and development of the art of channel perception on traditional mural art from different perspectives and analyse it with relevant cases to strengthen the research on channel perception and establish a channel perception system.Mural creation should combine their artistic ideals and artistic pursuits with the aesthetic needs of the viewer, reflected in the mural through the picture.Examines the application and effects of visual and tactile perception in the creation of murals, and how the interaction of visual and tactile information can be used to create more three-dimensional and richer artworks.Explains in detail the artistic value of combining contemporary mural creation with visual and tactile perception, explores the framework system for combining contemporary mural creation with visual and tactile perception, and refines new ideas and methods for mural creation and design.
