When assessing the effect of divided attention conditions on memory performance through dual-task operation,it was found that memory performance will be affected by the target detection task, but this effect is not interference, and even on the contrary, target detection will promote the memory of the background material that appears at the same time as it appears(target item),so that the memory level of the target item exceeds the background material that appears at the same time as the distracting stimulus(distracted item),and even better than the background material memory level under the full attention condition.Exhibits a phenomenon of memory superiority triggered by target detection.Researchers refer to this memory enhancement phenomenon brought about by target detection as the Attentional Boost Effect(ABE).In order to explain the mechanism of ABE generation,Swallow and Jiang summarized the dual-task interaction model on the basis of the original theory, and argued that the generation of ABE lies in the triggering of target detection on the instantaneous time selection attention mechanism, which benefits from the background stimulus that appears at the same time as the target stimulus, and its perceptual processing is also enhanced, and then exhibits ABE.Previous studies on attention-boosting effects have shown that ABE is stable in item memory, but different results have been found in associative forms of memory types.Current studies have mainly found ABE in source memory, but not in context memory. In addition to source memory and background memory, associative memory is also one of the types of memory in the associative form, which represents the relationship memory of two or more items and has nothing to do with the detection information. There are currently no studies exploring ABE in associative memory. In order to explore "whether target detection can promote the associative memory of background information" and further expand the role of ABE,experiment 1 used words as memory materials, and used the correlation coding method of matching degree judgment and the classic associative recognition paradigm to explore the relationship between ABE and associative memory, and the results did not find ABE in item memory and associative memory. This may be due to the fact that the coding method of the matching judgment makes the background material produce a specific and classical associative recognition paradigm to present two words to increase the possibility of reasoning, and then experiment2 modifies the coding and recognition method of experiment 1,using the associative coding method of group sentences and first presenting a word for new and old recognition, reducing the specificity generated by the coding method and the possibility of inference in the test method, and it is found that the ABE in the item memory disappears, but there is ABE in the associative memory.Experiment 3 changed the associative recognition paradigm to the associative recall paradigm on the basis of experiment 2,and the results showed that ABE existed in both item memory and associative memory.Based on the above three experiments, this study concludes that there is a ABE in the associative memory, and the ABE in the project memory is affected by whether the encoding is consistent with the processing level at the time of extraction, and if the coding and extraction level are inconsistent, the ABE will disappear.
