The Application Of ASSURE Model In Informational English Reading Teaching In Middle Schools

Currently,Chinese educational course has stepped in the era of informatization.The development of information technology opened up new opportunity for English education,and the teaching of English reading in middle schools is gradually transforming into informationbased teaching,making the effective integration of information technology a necessary skill for contemporary English teachers.The ASSURE model,which integrates informational technology and the flipped classroom teaching model,guides educators through the main steps of teaching in a systematic way.The ASSURE model provides an operational model with practical implications for teaching and learning.The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the ASSURE model in the informational teaching of English reading in junior high schools,and to provide inspiration for the transformation of English reading teaching in junior high schools.Two classes in Pingdu Guokai Experimental School were selected as participants for the research.The experimental class adopted the informational reading teaching model based on the ASSURE model,while the control group was instructed with the conventional methods.The following research questions were investigated using interviews outlines,questionnaires and reading proficiency tests as the experiment tools:(1)How are students’ attitudes and interests in English learning affected by the informational reading teaching based on the ASSURE model?(2)What is the effect of adopting the ASSURE model based informational English reading teaching on middle school students’ reading proficiency?The results show that the ASSURE model can effectively improve their capacity for autonomous learning,increase their interest and attitude toward learning,and improve students’ English reading proficiency.The model can also effectively assist teachers in organizing classroom instruction and raising teaching quality.Therefore,the ASSURE model is a tried-andtrue instructional strategy with broad applicability in middle school English reading teaching.
