| Since the 1990 s,with the advancement of globalization and integration,the Chinese art scene has been characterized by complexities,with many artists drawing on traditional Chinese culture in the hope of achieving a fit between the "local" and the "contemporary".In addition,the rise of individualistic and imaginative expressions has made Chinese figure painting more contemporary and expressive in form.As a highly regarded artist in the contemporary art world,we can see Mao Yan reaching new heights in his step-by-step artistic adventure.This paper starts from the artistic evolution and stylistic characteristics of Mao Yan,the "Chinese conceptual portrait artist",with the "purification" and "enrichment" of Mao Yan’s artistic language as the main line.The unique aesthetic concepts and transformations presented in Mao Yan’s paintings are analyzed in depth,and the composition of his artistic language and the contemporary spiritual expression of Chinese and Western fusion are sorted out from the perspective of illustration.This paper is divided into five parts: the first part briefly analyzes the background of the development of Chinese figure oil painting in the 1990 s,placing Mao Yan’s rebellious spirit and the reasons for his transformation in the context of the changing times;the second part starts from the purification level of Mao Yan’s artistic language and elaborates the purification tendency of his aesthetic concepts and expressions respectively;the third part focuses on the new perspectives and elements that Mao Yan injected after the deletion.The third part focuses on the new ideas and elements that Mao Yan injected after the deletion,exploring his new artistic outlook after the continuous exploration;the fourth part focuses on Mao Yan’s contemporary spiritual expressions after the purification and enrichment;the last part summarizes the above and elaborates the present significance of Mao Yan’s localized and contemporary development of portrait painting.Mao Yan is not a trendsetter at the forefront of the times,but a wanderer who has strayed from the path of "mainstream" and "standard",forming a peculiar relationship with the times: he is both attached to the present and distant from it,constantly groping and exploring at the edge of the mainstream,In this long journey,the artist has been able to explore and explore.During this long journey,Mao Yan has bridged the boundaries between East and West,tradition and contemporary art,and through constant reduction and refinement,he has developed a new artistic outlook.In his artworks,the nature of the human being takes a back seat to the common idea,and he presents his understanding of human beings in different ways such as body,consciousness,and soul in a sincere and sensitive manner,opening up a new direction of development for many artists who are at a loss under the impact of Western civilization and providing more possibilities for artistic development. |
