Picture books are narrative texts that attach equal importance to pictures and texts.The introduction of picture books as auxiliary teaching materials in international Chinese teaching can give full play to the functions of two knowledge carriers of picture books,images and texts.This not only changes the main teaching material form of text as knowledge carrier in the past,but also coincides with the primary stage of international Chinese teaching.Cao Wenxuan ’s picture books are in line with the needs of international Chinese teaching in terms of language content and material form.Therefore,this paper takes Cao Wenxuan ’s picture books as an example to discuss from three aspects : picture book ontology,application theory and practical research.Based on the definition of picture books in the academic circle,picture books are narrative texts formed by artistic combination of pictures and texts used as media.They have the common characteristics of interweaving pictures and texts,integrating multidisciplinary elements,paying attention to creativity and interest,and integrating multiculturalism.Cao Wenxuan ’s picture books also have the above characteristics,but there are more than pictures,rich cultural context,more diverse material forms,and obvious personality characteristics of the times.As an auxiliary teaching material in international Chinese language education,picture books have unique advantages,but the combination of picture books and international Chinese education has not attracted much attention in China.According to the proportion and correlation of the narrative tasks undertaken by the image and text of the picture book,there are four relationships in the form of the picture book : text is greater than picture,text is less than picture,text is equal to picture and text is not equal to picture.As different narrative media,picture and text in picture books complement each other.Picture and text media in picture books have semiotic characteristics.Picture and text imitate each other in picture book narrative and have common cultural orientation,so as to jointly complete the function of language and cultural knowledge dissemination.Based on the graphic theory of picture books,the selection of picture books for international Chinese teaching also needs to establish three principles : paying equal attention to interesting connotation,being conducive to teaching and combining with the times.Cao Wenxuan ’s picture books used in teaching should be selected on this basis.Works that are compatible with the teaching stage and targeted.Applying picture books to international Chinese teaching conforms to the educational theory of scaffolding theory and multiple intelligence theory.On the one hand,the intuitive context of picture book image media can be used as a scaffold for learners to enter the learning context;on the other hand,the interactive textbook form mobilizes learners ’ language intelligence,spatial intelligence,motor intelligence and other intelligent development.Combining picture book teaching with these two pedagogical theories,four teaching strategies and methods can be established,such as situational practice,picture-to-text,detail comparison,and network tasks.Based on the above picture book ontology research and application theory research,this paper designs the application practice from the traditional offline teaching and network teaching,both of which are presented in the form of more detailed teaching plans.The offline teaching design uses the picture book ’ summer ’as the teaching material to arrange three class hours,which includes all the details from the introduction to the classroom reflection;in view of the current situation of network teaching in the ’ post-epidemic ’ era,this paper also takes the picture book ’smoke ’ as an example to carry out the teaching design of important knowledge points,and summarizes the three precautions that should be paid attention to in the teaching of network picture books,such as proper instruction,prominent focus and measurement instead of practice.In addition,after comparing online teaching with offline teaching,it is concluded that the classroom center of online picture book teaching should be transferred from students to teachers.Finally,this paper investigates the tendency of picture book teaching application for international Chinese language education practitioners,and then investigates the teaching practice under the guidance of the teaching concept of this paper.According to the data of the questionnaire survey,the author summarizes five problems in the actual picture book teaching,puts forward teaching suggestions from two aspects of pre-class preparation and classroom teaching,and puts forward three teaching prospects on this basis.In general,the characteristics of picture books are very consistent with international Chinese teaching and are suitable for the primary comprehensive course of international Chinese language education.Cao Wenxuan ’s picture books are suitable for the teaching practice of picture books teaching.This paper finds the theoretical foundation for picture book teaching,and establishes the application principle of picture book teaching,and presents it in the form of examples.In addition,it can be seen from the investigation and research that picture book teaching not only conforms to the teaching willingness of most international Chinese educators,but also achieves good teaching results in teaching practice.
