| Teachers’ practical knowledge plays a key role in the teachers’ professional development.Therefore,enhancing teachers’ practical knowledge should be emphasized in order to improve the quality of teachers’ education.The thesis tells and interprets the educational stories of a novice teacher,Miss L,from the aspects of subject matter knowledge,pedagogic content knowledge,general pedagogical knowledge,curriculum knowledge and knowledge of self.In order to have a better understanding of the complexity and richness of the development of practical knowledge,this study adopts the method of narrative inquiry where Miss L describes her feelings and perceptions she gained from her own personal teaching experience.Based on Miss L’ s experience and perception of her own practice,this study draws the following conclusions: there are many factors that have an impact on the development of practical knowledge.Among them,self-knowledge and personal teaching experience,student feedback and the environment where novice teachers develop their practical knowledge are the main factors.A teacher’s good characters,educational ideas and her own learning and life experience influence her development of practical knowledge deeply.When it comes to the student factor,a good teacher-student relationship and student feedback play a positive role in the development of the teacher’s practical knowledge.As for the environment factor,national education policy,the organizational culture of the school,and exam-oriented environment have an effect on the development of the teacher’ practical knowledge.They work both ways,positively and negatively. |
