The concept of "dramatic" was first introduced by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle in his Poetics. He used the adjective "dramatic" when he expressed the meaning of drama: "dramatic","dramatized"."Dramaturgy" is a unique artistic characteristic of theater artworks, reflecting the most fundamental characteristics of theater, and the core of "drama" is action and conflict. The term "drama" has been widely used in various fields of art, such as music, dance, literature, film and television.Composers in China and the West have created many dramatic works through the medium of music,in which the characters, the background and the atmosphere of the story need to be expressed through music, thus highlighting the dramatic conflict. In the field of vocal music, the concept of "drama" is mostly used in opera and art song, where the action and conflict are shown through human movement and singing. The dramatic characteristics of art songs are the narrative nature of the music in the development of the whole drama, the lyrical nature of the music when the characters express their emotions, and the conflict nature when the atmosphere of the drama is created and the drama conflict unfolds, which corresponds to the dramatic characteristics of the drama-realism,typicality and concentration. The concept of "dramatic" is widely used in opera, and in this thesis, the use of the concept of "dramatic" is actually a metaphor, referring to the characteristics of Mozart’s art songs other than lyricism, thanks to Mozart’s creativity in opera. The creation of Mozart’s art songs are all selected from different poems. As a literary genre of lyricism, the four poems contained in Mozart’s four songs Das veilchen,Dans un bois solitaire,Als Luise die Birefe ihres ungetreuen Liebhabers verbrannte and Die Alte all possess the dramatic characteristics of literary composition-the concentration, tension, and twists of the plot, together with Mozart’s opera. In addition,Mozart’s musical composition based on poetry makes these four art songs show the "dramatic" characteristics of music, forming a unique style of his own works. Therefore, the author chooses these four dramatic songs as the subject of his thesis, aiming to explore the alternative characteristics of Mozart’s art songs from the perspective of drama, and to conduct a corresponding vocal discussion on this drama from the perspective of a singer, combining the analysis of the score with personal opinions on the singing of the four works.
