| Pride is a positive self-conscious emotion that can be divided into two dimensions:Authentic pride results from success attributed to controllable, internal, and unstable causes, and Hubristic pride results from success attributed to uncontrollable, internal and stable causes, which make individuals who are aroused with different pride emotions have significant differences in their attitudes towards others. This study takes the typical stigmatized groups—AIDS group as the research object, and explores the influence of pride emotions on it.Empathy and implicit bias, and explored whether perspective-taking has an impact on the implicit prejudice of individuals under pride. In Study 1,75 college students were randomly selected as experimental subjects in colleges. The experiment was designed as a single-factor test. The independent variable was pride(Authentic pride and Hubristic pride),and the dependent variable was empathy and Implicit prejudice toward the AIDS group. The results show that individuals with Authentic pride have lower implicit prejudice against the AIDS group than individuals with Hubristic pride, individuals with Hubristic pride have higher implicit prejudice against the AIDS group than individuals with Authentic pride, and individuals with Authentic pride have higher empathy,Hubristic pride have lower empathy, but their empathy had no significant effect on their implicit prejudice. In Study 2,100 college students were randomly selected as experimental subjects in colleges. The experiment was a 2(Authentic pride and Hubristic pride)× 2(perspective-taking group, control group)between-subjects experimental design, and the dependent variable was Implicit prejudice against the AIDS group. The results show that perspective-taking can effectively reduce the implicit prejudice against the AIDS group under the individuals with Authentic pride, but it cannot significantly reduce the implicit prejudice against the AIDS group under the individuals with Hubristic pride. The research draws the following conclusions:(1)Authentic pride individuals have a higher degree of empathy for the AIDS groups.while Hubristic pride individuals have a lower degree of empathy for the AIDS groups.;(2)Individuals with Authentic pride had lower implicit prejudice against AIDS groups than individuals with Hubristic pride, and individuals with Hubristic pride had higher implicit prejudice against AIDS groups than individuals with Authentic pride;(3)Initiating perspective-taking can significantly reduce the implicit prejudice of Authentic pride individuals towards AIDS groups, but it cannot significantly reduce the implicit prejudice of Hubristic pride individuals towards AIDS groups. |
