An Analysis Of The Musical Style And Playing Techniques Of Stravinsky Italian Suite

Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky is a famous Russian composer and conductor.He created nearly a hundred works in his life,and his works have a wide range of themes and genres,reflecting the different characteristics of each period in the process of world music reform in the20 th century.In 1932,Stravinsky collaborated with Piatigorsky on the cello version of the Italian Suite."Italian Suite" is Stravinsky’s adaptation of the ballet "Pulcinella" completed in1920.This work was loved by people as soon as it came out,and became the most popular cello repertoire in the 20 th century.This article will discuss this work from the musical style to performance skills.The first chapter introduces the information of Stravinsky,an extremely important composer in the twentieth century.His creative career has gone through many stages.Then it explains the creative background of "Italian Suite" and Stravinsky in the neoclassical period.The second chapter analyzes the music of the repertoire.The first section includes the analysis of the musical form and structure of the whole piece in five parts.The second section is the analysis of the pitch organization and rhythm organization of the work.The third section is the discussion and analysis of different versions of the score.The third chapter will incorporate the author’s playing experience to analyze the musical skills of the works.
