As a dynasty of ethnic minorities rising from Changbai Mountain and Huntong River, the area under its jurisdiction showed a living situation of "big mixed and small settlements",which was especially obvious in Shanxi at that time.In this specific historical environment, studying the social behavior and related activities of a certain group of characters can provide a deeper understanding of the real, comprehensive, and vivid society in history. As non-renewable historical and cultural resources, tablet inscriptions have the realistic significance of continuing the demise and promoting the traditional Chinese culture,as well as the irreplaceable academic research significance of other historical documents. They are of great value in researching historical facts, correcting the deficiencies of historical books, and justifying the records of historical books. It is a first hand historical data that can be mutually verified with handed down documents.Shanxi Province is a province with large resources of tablet inscriptions. At present,it is second to none in terms of both the quantity and the value of the inscriptions. Therefore, the in-depth interpretation of the inscription is particularly important. These inscriptions in Shanxi in the Jin Dynasty provide more directions and clues for our research on local social culture and social governance in the Jin Dynasty, the status and differences of regional development, the contributions and social influences of various strata of people and the history of ethnic relations. The inscriptions based on the research of this paper are mainly from the Complete Collection of Stone Inscriptions in Sanjin and Examination of Stone Inscriptions in Dingxiang. These two works basically include 90%of the Jin inscriptions in Shanxi, which are rich in content and extensive in coverage. The three main subjects of this paper-monk group, villager group and Jinshi group-are finally determined through summary and arrangement. This paper focuses on the study of human groups, and extends from the study of human to the study of local social development and governance, religious culture transmission and so on.In the study of the monk community, firstly, defines the concept of the monk group to clarify the research object;secondly, analyzes and summarizes the reasons for the monk group’s monkhood, daily activities, and social interactions, and makes a little supplement for previous studies;Discussing the social status of the monks in the Jin Dynasty with an eminent monk and great virtue as an entry point. In the study of villager groups, clarifying the geographical scope of this study by listing the statistical table of the villager groups in the inscriptions, aiming to define the villager groups, supplemented by looking for regional differences. After summarizing the social activities of the villagers,it is found that most of the social activities they participate in are related to Buddhism.Based on this, the relationship between the villagers, the monks, and the religious culture is analyzed and studied. Finally, the paper briefly discusses the ethnic composition of the population structure of the Jin Dynasty, and studies the ethnic communication, exchange and blend of the Jurchen and the Khitan people found in the tablet inscriptions. It is found that in the Jin generation, the communication and blend of various ethnic groups and strata are good, and they can get along well with each other, learn from each other and make progress together. In this part of the research, the "Zhanzhi"family name in the inscription is also discussed and confirmed as a new Jurchen family name.
