| This practice report is based on the Chinese-English translation of Introduction to Tourism Resources of Zhangye City,provided by Zhangye Cultural,Radio,Film and Tourism Bureau.The material contains 10,812 Chinese characters and mainly introduces tourism resources such as Danxia Geopark,Great Buddha Temple,and TwoDam Lake,as well as its rich folk culture.The text introduces basic information about scenic spots and characteristic culture in diverse language styles.Based on this translation practice,the translator explores the practical skills of translating tourism texts.The source text introduces a large amount of cultural information in diverse sentence structures.For example,there are many names of scenic spots with cultural connotations,four-character words,long and complex sentences,non-subject sentences and ancient poems in the text,which are the main difficulties in this translation.At the lexical level,the translator mainly adopts literal translation and annotation.At the sentence level,the translator uses translation skills such as amplification,division,combination,and reconstruction to achieve coherence between sentences.In short,the translator has flexibly adopted corresponding translation methods according to different situations.By dealing with translation difficulties,the translator strives to achieve the communicative purpose of the translation in the premise of effectively transmitting the information of the source text.Taking Introduction to Tourism Resources of Zhangye City as the object,this practice report shows the application of different translation skills and methods in practice through case analysis.The report also analyzes the problems encountered in translation from two aspects: at the lexical and syntactic level,aiming at spreading the cultural characteristics of Zhangye City to boost the popularity of the local cultural industry.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to provide some reference for other translators on the English translation of tourism texts. |
