"Blank space" is an important technique in Chinese classical art creation, and its main feature is "less wins more, and empty wins more".Blank space in dance creation refers to the use of the creative technique of "blank space" in the creation of dance works so as to sublimate the works and create artistic conception. The combination of language and "blank space" often makes the works full of unique implication and deep artistic conception, and brings infinite association to the audience,so that they can get aesthetic satisfaction. The first chapter analyzes the concept, definition and origin of "blank space" art.The second chapter analyzes the application of "blank space" in art and music, and discusses the application of "blank space" in dance through comparison. The third chapter studies and analyzes Lin Huaimin’s "Water Moon","Wild Grass" and other works, learning the application of choreographers’ "blank space" artistic technique in dance creation practice, and combining with his original special performance "Gaze",analyzing the blank space art applied in it from four aspects: action modeling, spatial formation, props and environmental atmosphere. The fourth chapter summarizes the research methods and conclusions of this paper, and explores the ways of dance creation by absorbing the development methods of other art categories. The research of this topic attempts to transform the "blank space" technique of Chinese classical art creation into practical works with specific visible dance language, and then analyze the practice of the works by the theoretical summary of the paper,so as to promote the effective application of the "blank space" creative method and provide reference for dancers who are learning dance creation practice.
