Research On Mozi’s Tianzhi Belief Concept

With the revival of Mohism and the influx of Western ideas during the Qianjia period of the Qing Dynasty,Mozi’s "Tianzhi"(Heavenly Will)thought allows us to understand Mozi’s "Tianzhi" thought from the perspective of Western learning.However,there is still a lack of a comprehensive and holistic understanding of "Tianzhi" and related Mozi thought.As for the qualitative nature of "Tianzhi" thought,it is far from enough to regard it as an object with characteristics such as transcendence.The word "Tianzhi" is a very recognizable symbol in Mozi’s ideological system.Taking it as a measuring stick in the world,to measure all right and wrong,good and evil,only by combining the thoughts of "Tianzhi" with Mozi’s "clear ghost","universal love","non-attack","Shangtong","Shangxian" Only by organically combining other theories such as "virtuous" and "non-destiny" can we see the whole picture of the upper-level ideological theoretical system constructed by Mozi—the belief in Tianzhi.After the completion of the ritual system in the Zhou Dynasty,the four social belief strata of "heaven,monarch,ministers and people" that accompanied the ancient Chinese feudal society for more than2,000 years have actually basically formed.,put forward the political demands of cultural and institutional improvement for the monarch and minister classes,and at the same time endowed this demand with the meaning of religious belief with "heaven" as the supreme existence.Mozi’s reform plan for the upper-level ideology and the "Tao" and "Mandate of Heaven" proposed by Laozi and Confucius at the same time are the precious ideological wealth of the Chinese civilization born in the Axial Age.The difference is that Confucianism is based on "subjects".The standard is committed to maintaining the original social class order,while Taoism advocates jumping out of the shackles of "heaven,monarch,ministers,and people" and constructing an ideal society of "order in disorder".Since the Tianzhi belief concept pursued the political demands that"the ruler,the subject and the people" should be equal in the whole world,the Mohist group could not be accommodated by the ruling class and quickly declined.However,in the historical evolution of later generations,the belief in Tianzhi still has a certain influence.For example,the belief theory,organizational form,and technical achievements of the Tianzhi belief concept directly affected the establishment of China’s official native religion,Taoism;"The development in the direction of equality shows a tacit echo with the belief concept of Tianzhi.The belief concept of Tianzhi is a belief theory system proposed by Mozi with the intention of solving social conflicts and international conflicts with the bottom working people as the main body under the historical background of the challenge of the upper-level ideology constructed in the Zhou Dynasty to establish the authority of the "Son of Heaven".The practical proposition of building an ideal society based on the needs of the people’s lives under the Tianzhi belief concept also has certain reference significance in contemporary socialist construction and international exchanges,but the Tianzhi belief concept inevitably has some limitations,such as superstition in ghosts and gods.dependence and lack of awareness of political struggles.
